The woman wore a custom-tailored white business suit that hugged her stunning curves perfectly. She had a narrow waist and long legs, looking sharp yet incredibly elegant.

An expensive designer watch adorned her wrist. Her chestnut hair was tied up in a high, curled ponytail, radiating a bright, confident, and unapologetic energy.

The man beside her was dressed in a perfectly cut black suit. Tall and imposing, he exuded a cold, aristocratic aura, with one hand casually in his pocket and the other carrying a woman's designer handbag.

Black and white. Aristocratic and elegant. Coldly handsome and stunningly beautiful. They looked like a match made in heaven.

Summer Vance's gaze lingered on the man's hand holding the purse for two seconds. Catching her look, Lily Sutton smiled. "You don't mind, do you, Summer? Whenever I went out with the guys in the past, they always carried my bags for me, so I guess it just became a habit."

Xavier Sterling's deep, cold eyes swept over Summer indifferently. He didn't offer a single word of explanation. It was as if he was tacitly agreeing, or perhaps he just couldn't be bothered to speak to her.

Whatever his attitude was, Summer didn't care. Nor did she want to entertain Lily. She continued replying to Tessa Thorne's messages on her phone, treating Lily's words like a dog barking in the background.

Seeing that Summer wasn't responding, a flash of mockery crossed Lily's heart, and the smile in her eyes deepened.

She swiped Xavier's access card to open the adjacent executive elevator. As the doors parted, she tilted her head to look at Summer.

"You're awfully quiet, Summer. Don't tell me you're jealous again?"

"No way. Are you actually jealous?!"

"You know, Summer, no man likes a woman who's this petty and calculating."

Chattering endlessly in her ear first thing in the morning. So annoying!

Summer finished typing her message, locked her screen, and looked up with a bright smile. "Wildflower Lily, are you just stupid, or is there something wrong with your eyes? Can't you see I don't want to talk to you? Whether I'm jealous or whether men like me is none of your damn business. You talk way too much. Are we even close? You're completely out of your mind! If you're a psycho, please walk out, take a left, drive two miles down the road, and check yourself into the psychiatric ward. They'd love to have you."

After getting that all off her chest, Summer finally felt a wave of satisfaction.

Lily's smile vanished. She pressed her lips together, her expression turning icy, and finally fell silent.
