"Exactly, Mr. Sterling. We aren't fully acquainted with Ms. Sutton's capabilities yet. Isn't such a sudden replacement a bit hasty?"

"That's right. Director Vance's competence and contributions are clear to everyone. Could you perhaps reconsider?"

The executives speaking up usually had a solid working relationship with Summer.

Xavier cast a half-smile at Summer. The curl of his thin lips and the coldness in his eyes looked indescribably ruthless and unfeeling.

His implication was obvious.

He thought Summer had secretly coordinated with these executives to lobby on her behalf.

Summer caught the look and cursed inwardly: You arrogant jerk! This is purely because of my own competence. They spoke up for me on their own.

It detailed her alma mater, the projects she had been involved in, the awards she had won, and even a patent registered under her name.

Summer wasn't surprised. She had seen the news of Lily's awards before.
