The police quickly realized this wasn't the child they were looking for. They turned to Sebastian, who smiled and shook his head.

Xavier didn't think much of it and had no reason to be suspicious. He assumed Sebastian was at the hospital for a different case and that Summer was just using the officers' presence to terrify Hunter.

But Hunter didn't know that, and he genuinely believed they were there for him.

He continued to whine, though his volume had dropped significantly.

Lily shot Summer a cool glance before turning to Xavier. "Maybe we should take Hunter to the doctor now. He looks like he's in a lot of pain."

Although Xavier was annoyed by Summer's behavior, the thought of Leo weighed on his mind. "I'll come check on you guys later."

With that, he carried the whimpering Hunter and walked away with Lily toward a different examination room.

Watching his retreating back, Summer let out a hollow, profoundly cynical laugh.

She then led Sebastian and the police into Leo's room.

Just then, a nurse called Tessa away to attend to a newly arrived patient.

As Tessa rushed out the door, she pointed at Sebastian, who had just walked in. "I'm leaving my best friend and godson in your hands, Mr. Stone. You'd better take good care of them."

Sebastian chuckled, shaking his head. "Watch where you're going. You're so frantic, I'm worried for your patients."

While Mrs. Gable handled the registration and medical bills, Sebastian and the officers stayed with Summer throughout the examination.

The police officially logged the injuries, took photographic evidence, and pulled the medical records to build the file.

They interviewed Leo, Summer, and Mrs. Gable individually.

Afterward, Sebastian meticulously reviewed the police statements on Summer's behalf, pointing out any discrepancies or poor phrasing for immediate correction. Only when everything was flawless did he allow Summer to sign the documents.
