Sabrina thought about it for a second, her eyes suddenly lighting up. She looked earnestly at Lyra and suggested, "Once the baby is born, can I be the godmother? I promise I'll spoil the little one rotten."
"Sure," Lyra smiled, resting a hand on her belly.
"Let's play rock-paper-scissors for it. Winner gets to be the godmother," Madeline immediately chimed in, refusing to be left out of such an honor.
In the end, Sabrina won.
The next morning, Rowan joined Lyra for breakfast and simply decided to ditch work. He stayed home to keep her company all morning. It wasn't until Lyra requested some alone time that he finally retreated to his study.
A short while later, Wesley arrived at Blackwood Manor carrying a thick stack of documents requiring approval. As soon as he stepped into the living room, Lyra called out to him.
"Wesley, hold on a second."
Wesley stopped in his tracks, standing straight and strictly professional. "Yes, Ma'am. How can I help you?"
"The faucet in the master bathroom is acting up. Since you're here, go upstairs and take a look at it," Lyra said casually, finding a quick excuse to get him out of the room.
The moment Wesley headed toward the bathroom, she pulled out the divorce agreement she had prepared ages ago and secretly slipped it into the middle of his document stack. When Wesley returned, he picked up his briefcase and went straight to the study.
Wesley placed the divorce agreement neatly on the coffee table and bowed slightly. "Ma'am, if there's nothing else, I'll be taking my leave."
Lyra instinctively called out to him again, asking casually, "How is Jasmine doing in the hospital?"
"Her condition is stable. There have been no post-op complications, and she's recovering quite well overall," Wesley answered honestly, waiting for her dismissal.
Lyra stared at Wesley's rigid, robotic demeanor and felt a sudden wave of annoyance. "Do you have a problem with me?"
Wesley immediately straightened up, his expression completely serious. "Ma'am, of course not. I don't hold an ounce of resentment toward you. Every action I take is strictly following Mr. Jameson's orders. I simply don't want to see you make an impulsive decision that could destroy your marriage."
