She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 597

After the afternoon reception, Grandpa Alistair made a special trip to Blackwood Manor to check on his new granddaughter-in-law.

Lyra was resting in bed, with Sabrina and Madeline keeping her company.

Grandpa Alistair, dressed in a sharp tailored suit, walked in with a warm, grandfatherly smile. His eyes softened the moment he saw Lyra. "Lyra, my dear. You and Rowan have navigated so many obstacles, but in the end, you found your way back to each other. It's wonderful. Truly wonderful."

"Grandpa..." Lyra smiled softly.

Sabrina and Madeline chimed in in unison, "Hello, Grandpa Alistair."

The old man chuckled. "It's been a while, girls. Especially you, Sabrina."

Sabrina grinned. "You must be thrilled, Grandpa. You always wanted them to get married."

"Of course, of course," he laughed heartily. "I knew this would be the outcome from the very beginning."

The joy on his face was impossible to hide as he thought of his soon-to-arrive great-grandchild.

"Lyra, Rowan has been spoiled by this family since he was a boy. He can be incredibly stubborn and domineering, and he doesn't always think things through. You'll have your hands full keeping him in line. If he ever mistreats you or makes you cry, you tell me immediately, and I will set him straight."

"I will, Grandpa..."

Knowing the evening festivities were still ahead, Lyra asked, "Grandpa, where are you staying tonight?" If he was staying at Blackwood, she needed to instruct the staff to prepare a room immediately.

"I'm heading back to the main estate tonight. We have a few tables of close family and friends to entertain. It's going to be quite lively."

Lyra hadn't realized there was a secondary reception and looked slightly surprised.

Grandpa Alistair quickly waved his hand. "You don't need to worry about coming, Lyra. Just stay here and focus on resting. Don't stress yourself trying to play the hostess, and absolutely do not force yourself out of bed. Rowan will handle everything."

Zane reached over, taking his girlfriend's hand in his. "Rowan, Lyra, and I go way back. We used to be close friends. And trust me, Rowan has always been the one chasing her..."

Lena looked down, feeling a flash of guilt for assuming the worst. "It did look that way. He looked genuinely ecstatic at the wedding."

She just felt a deep ache for her sister.

Sylvia had been madly in love with Rowan since high school. She had guarded that secret for years, and even the guy she eventually dated was nothing more than a stand-in. Just when their families had finally arranged a formal introduction and it looked like Sylvia might actually have a shot, Rowan returned from his business trip to the Middle East an entirely different man. Years of quiet devotion had evaporated in an instant, leaving her sister with nothing.

Back at Blackwood Manor, Grandpa Alistair was laughing loudly, thoroughly enjoying his conversation with the Vance cousins.

Rowan, still dressed in his immaculate groom's suit, stepped quietly into the room.

Sabrina looked up and practically choked. Struck by how devastatingly handsome he looked, she blindly reached out and pinched Madeline's arm hard. Madeline winced, shooting her cousin a glare, but knowing Sabrina's obsession with romance tropes, she bit her tongue to avoid making a scene.
