She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 579

Rowan waited in silence, watching as she finally turned off the water, wrapped a large towel around her slender frame, and reached for the hair dryer.

Lyra snatched it out of his hand. "I'll do it myself. You should steer us back. It's not safe out here."

She was right. Rowan turned and headed for the helm, firing up the engines and steering the yacht back toward the coastline.

They were only a little over a mile out, so it didn't take long for The Albatross to glide smoothly back into its slip at the marina.

Lyra sat in the cabin, blow-drying her long hair. The warm air enveloped her, finally dispelling the last traces of the ocean's biting chill, and her body relaxed.

Rowan walked up behind her and reached for the switch on the dryer, intending to turn it off for her.

Lyra immediately tilted her head away. "Don't turn it off. My hair can't be damp at all. I'll get sick."

Hearing that, he kept his hand on the dryer but didn't switch it off. Instead, he took over, patiently running his fingers through her thick, dark hair. He directed the warm air over every strand until her hair was completely dry, soft, and free of any lingering moisture.

The next second, his warm lips pressed softly against the side of her neck, carrying the scent of the sea mixed with his own clean, masculine fragrance.

Lyra's heart leaped into her throat, her voice laced with immediate rejection.

"No... we can't. Not right now. I just got my period."

Rowan lowered his eyes, taking in her tense, flustered expression. "I didn't notice any signs of your period."

"I have something really important to do tomorrow. I need a good night's sleep," Lyra stammered, gripping the edges of her towel tightly as she scrambled for an excuse.

"What important thing?" Rowan rested his hands heavy on her shoulders, clearly not intending to let her off the hook easily. He wasn't going to drop it until he got a real answer.

It took Lyra a few seconds to process what had just tumbled out of her mouth. Her cheeks burned instantly. "Oh... I misspoke..."

"I'll pick you up tomorrow." Rowan's gaze darkened further, his large hand gently stroking her waist.

Lyra jolted. "Wait, no—"

"You don't have a choice," he warned softly. "Refuse, and we spend the night right here on the yacht."

"Take a look at the bed in this cabin. It's tiny. We'd have to sleep plastered together on our sides just to keep from falling off. Or would you rather sleep on top of me?"

Lyra shook her head vigorously. "..."

She knew that the moment he kissed her, he was fueled by raw desire. He wasn't going to let her walk away easily. And right now, she wasn't wearing a single thing underneath the towel. She was practically served up on a silver platter. Every fiber of her being screamed to run, but she knew that tonight, escape was entirely off the table.
