After giving the orders to her assistant, Andrea grabbed her motorcycle helmet and rushed straight to the Fairchild estate.
But as her bike pulled up to the gates, she saw Rowan's black luxury sedan already parked in the driveway.
Inside the living room, Delilah was standing right in front of Rowan, reprimanding him harshly.
"Everyone in Seaborne City knows your wedding with Jasmine is set in stone. The invitations have already been delivered. Yet here you are, carrying the title of a groom-to-be, showing up day after day to harass my daughter. Tell me, Rowan, do you look at Lyra as some sort of mistress? The Fairchilds might not be royalty, but we are a respectable family. You clearly have zero respect for us."
Rowan had no desire to argue. Right now, his only concern was Lyra's condition. "Delilah, the only thing that matters right now is where Lyra is. She's weak..."
"Where she is has nothing to do with you! I thought a man of your stature and business acumen would at least know boundaries. Everyone in Seaborne City knows who you are, yet you dragged her reputation through the mud and treated her like a plaything to kill time! Is this how Charles raised you?"
Rowan couldn't suppress his burning anxiety. "Where is Lyra?"
Delilah sneered. "She left the country. I suggest you stop looking for her."
Rowan's throat went dry as he forced down the surging emotions. "Your daughter was pregnant with my child. She just had a miscarriage. Her body is extremely fragile..."
"What... what did you say?"
Delilah swayed violently, her legs giving out as she collapsed onto the sofa. Her eyes were wide with sheer shock, entirely unable to process the news.
"Are you alright?" Martha panicked, rushing forward to support her. She reached for her phone to call Lyra.
Andrea hesitated, trying to reason with him. "Boss, flying over there now won't change anything. It will only make Lyra feel cornered. Why don't you have your contacts out there receive her and make sure she's taken care of..."
Rowan didn't hear a single word. His eyes were consumed with a frantic, obsessive need to get to the airport. He turned his head to look at Andrea's motorcycle parked outside the gates. "Give me your bike," he rasped.
Before Andrea could react, he snatched the helmet, shoved it onto his head, and swung his leg over the seat. Taking a car to the airport meant taking the long route, and traffic would eat up too much time. Only a motorcycle could weave through the gridlock at top speed.
The engine roared as he tore out of the driveway. Completely ignoring the speed limit, Rowan twisted the throttle to the max, slicing through the gaps in traffic. His mind was absolute chaos, filled only with the image of Lyra trembling on that surgical bed.
A light drizzle began to fall, the fine mist coating the visor of his helmet and instantly blurring his vision.
As he banked hard into an intersection, his distracted mind failed to register the truck barreling across his path until it was too late.
