She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 529

Rowan left the cabin at dawn the next day.

He didn't return until a few days later. This time, while getting on the highway, he noticed a white sedan tailing him relentlessly. Using his exceptional driving skills, Rowan took an early exit and navigated a series of sharp, dangerous turns until he finally shook the tail completely.

By the time he stepped into the mountain cabin, he was radiating a chilling aura.

The Matron quickly stepped forward. "You're much later than usual today. The girl couldn't wait and already ate."

"That's fine. You can go home first," Rowan said.

Seeing him walk in, Lyra felt an instinctive surge of fear. Her fingertips twisted the thin fabric of her clothes as she forced herself to meet his dark, brooding gaze.

"That Frederick Parker still refuses to give up and is searching for you everywhere. You two have only met a handful of times. Does he really need to be this devoted?"

Lyra completely ignored his question. "Is this enough? How long are you going to keep me locked up?"

There were now several bodyguards watching her. Aside from the Matron who cooked three meals a day, there were men staking out the cabin.

Every single move Lyra made was under strict surveillance. The days were so suffocating she could barely breathe.

"How many times have you met?"

Rowan forcefully pulled her into his arms. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his nose brushing against her soft skin as he demanded in a low, threatening voice, "Lyra, tell me the truth. Exactly how many times have you and Frederick Parker met?"

"Aside from the Ford estate, we also ran into each other once on a plane."

Not wanting to anger him further, Lyra answered honestly, "His seat was right next to mine."

Rowan let out a low, mocking laugh. "Running into each other on a random flight. What wonderful fate you two share."

He suddenly tightened his grip, yanking her hard against his body.

This dark obsession buried deep in his heart twisted his very core. The room was filled with the heat of passion, casting a terrifying, violent shadow over his striking profile.

It wasn't until dawn the next morning that the mountain's silence was shattered. The distinct sound of an approaching car cut clearly through the cabin walls.

Rowan's eyes snapped open, instantly replaced by cold, sharp vigilance.

He got up swiftly, dressed with crisp efficiency, and turned to shake awake the sleeping Lyra. "Lyra, someone's here."

"It's probably Frederick Parker."

Lyra's body ached all over. Hearing that name in her dazed state made her heart skip a beat. She hurriedly propped herself up. Rowan helped her dress and told her to go wash up.

"Didn't sleep well? Let's go home so you can rest."

Lyra hastily pulled her clothes together. Home? A sudden spark of hope flared in her chest. He was finally letting her go.
