She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 490

The maid actually had no idea what her name was.

Mr. Jameson and the girl rarely addressed each other by name.

"We only come up here to clean and deliver meals, and the young lady only stays here occasionally. We aren't familiar with her, so we don't know her name..."

The shock lingered in Victoria's eyes. "All of you, go downstairs. I need to make a phone call."

The maids quietly left the room.

Victoria immediately dialed Sylvia's number. "Sylvia..."

After a bit of polite small talk, she put on a bright tone. "Have you ever been to Blackwood Manor? It's where Rowan lives. You should come over as a guest sometime."

Sylvia politely replied that she would definitely love to visit when she had the time.

The moment Victoria hung up, her smile vanished.

It wasn't Sylvia.

She then called someone she hadn't spoken to in quite a while—Jasmine.

"How have you been lately?"

Jasmine was thrilled to receive a call from Victoria. She eagerly explained her current situation, mentioning that she was still in Irving City and that her cousin was still in prison.

"You've been in Irving City this whole time?" Victoria mused. "Alright, I'll speak to Rowan about your cousin."

Victoria ended the call and closed her eyes, massaging the deep crease between her brows.

She had always believed that the only women on Rowan's mind were either Jasmine or someone with a matching family background like Sylvia. She had never imagined he was hiding a complete stranger at Blackwood Manor.

Could her eldest son really be involved with that secretary of his, Zara Somerset?

Without another second of hesitation, Victoria rushed straight to the Jameson Group headquarters.

Her town car pulled up to the towering skyscraper. When the receptionist saw Victoria walk in, she immediately stood up to greet her. She reached for the phone to announce her arrival, but Victoria raised a hand to stop her.

"No need to call him. I'll go up myself."

Charles gave a noncommittal grunt in response. Inwardly, he sighed. If she found out who the woman really was, she'd blow an even bigger gasket.

...

The next day, light snow began to fall.

While Lyra was driving, Kayla texted her, asking her to pick up a coffee from a specific cafe along the way.

Lyra pulled up to the coffee shop. The inside was wonderfully toasty, and she ordered two hazelnut lattes.

The baristas were slammed with orders. When her drinks were finally ready, she skipped the paper carrier and carried the cups with both hands, letting the heat warm her freezing fingers as she walked out.

As she headed for the door, she unexpectedly ran into Zane and his girlfriend. They were laughing and chatting as they walked in. A flurry of snowflakes swept in with them, melting into nothing the second they hit the tiled floor.

Lyra stopped in her tracks.

Zane spotted her at the exact same moment. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes before he hesitated briefly and stepped forward. "Lyra..."

Lena followed her boyfriend's gaze and turned to look. She saw Lyra wearing a puffy silver-white down jacket that made her legs look endlessly long and slender. Her radiant, clear eyes were quietly looking right back at them.
