She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 440

Lyra replied smoothly, "Just wait for me, I'll be right back. I just wanted to go grab some more of those local treats. I'll see you in a few minutes, bye!"

She hung up the phone just as she rushed into the property transaction hall. Mrs. Sawyer and her lawyer were already waiting. Looking slightly breathless and apologetic, Lyra hurried over and shook their hands.

Mrs. Sawyer looked her over with a warm smile. She couldn't help but notice that in the few hours since they last met, the girl somehow looked softer, radiating a newly flushed, feminine glow.

"Shall we get the transfer sorted?"

"Yes!"

It didn't take long.

With the property deeds firmly in her possession, Lyra hopped into a cab heading straight for the airport.

Rowan's name flashed on her phone screen again.

This time, Lyra answered with an icy, detached tone. "Rowan, we're done. Did you seriously think I was in love with you? That last time in bed was just me tossing you a goodbye bone. You got your taste, now lose my number."

"What?" Rowan demanded.

Without giving him a second to process, Lyra hung up and immediately blocked his number.

Rowan's brows violently snapped together. The sheer shock flashed in his eyes for a fraction of a second before vanishing, replaced by a bottomless, terrifying rage.

Before he could even process the betrayal, another call came through.

His subordinate's frantic voice spilled out of the speaker: "Mr. Jameson, the property owned by Mrs. Sawyer... the transaction just went through. She sold it to someone else."

Rowan's voice dropped to a lethal whisper. "Useless. I told you to keep an eye on it, and this is what happens? What am I even paying you for?"

...

While Lyra was waiting for her flight in the terminal.

Quentin Pierce called her.

"Boss, I need to take tomorrow off," Quentin said. "There's an Industry Salon happening offline. Word is that James himself is going to be there. I need to go see what kind of genius he really is."

...

Meanwhile, back in Seaborne City, Jasmine had been waiting all day for Lyra to contact her.

She still had the crown, and she was absolutely certain Lyra would come crawling to her eventually.

Jasmine had been at Lyra's eighteenth birthday party. She remembered clearly how Arthur had personally placed that crown on his daughter's head, and how radiantly happy Lyra had looked.

Jasmine knew better than anyone that the crown was Lyra's most treasured possession. If Lyra hadn't been backed into a corner for cash, she never would have sold it.

As long as the crown remained in Jasmine's hands, it was only a matter of time before Lyra came begging.

Tabitha frowned at her daughter. "Do you really think whatever leverage you get out of this is worth throwing away eight million dollars?"

"Depends on what the leverage gets me," Jasmine replied coldly.

"If it gets Lyra and Rowan to break up for good... then it's worth every single penny."
