She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 410

By the time Josie arrived, Rowan was already there. He stood by the open window, a cigarette pinched between his fingers. Pale smoke curled slowly into the air, half-obscuring his handsome features and making his sharp jawline look even more striking. Standing tall and straight, his commanding presence permeated the smoky air, projecting an undeniable aura of power.

Josie pulled off her sunglasses. "What did you want to see me about today?"

"I already know Lyra was the one who spent the night with me at the hotel," Rowan said. "So, why did you lie?"

Josie hadn't expected him to call her out over this. "Because I don't like her."

"You don't like her, so you lied?" Rowan asked. "And besides, why would she care if you like her?"

Josie was now a top-tier celebrity, currently being aggressively pursued by an elite tycoon. She was surrounded by adoration everywhere she went. Yet to Rowan, she was nothing but an irrelevant bystander. His words pierced her like needles. "Right. Having you like her is enough."

Josie took a step forward, her tone sharp and direct. "I'm just warning you, looks can be deceiving. She is not a good person."

"I was still a receptionist back then. She came running downstairs acting incredibly suspicious, wearing your suit jacket. I kindly asked if she needed help, and without explaining anything, she just told me to go upstairs and find you."

"Don't you think that's incredibly sketchy?"

"We were complete strangers. She had no idea if I'd be comfortable being alone with a strange man, but she sent me straight to Room 506. Anyone with half a brain could see she was hoping I'd sleep with you."

"Don't let her fool you! Anyone would look at what she did and know she's not right in the head..."

"And it's not just me. I bet she was the one who sent Jasmine up there too."

A vein throbbed on Rowan's forehead. He stood by the window for a long moment before finally speaking. "Are you done?"

"If you're done, you can leave."

"What? You don't like hearing it?" Josie challenged. "I'm telling the truth."

Rowan raised his hand and ruthlessly crushed his cigarette into the ashtray. His eyes turned completely freezing, the temperature in the room plummeting in an instant.

Josie took a deep breath, forced to change the subject. "I heard Jameson Entertainment changed ownership?"

Rowan gave a curt nod. "You better behave and follow your new boss's orders."

Sometimes she genuinely wondered why Caleb hadn't been the one to be reborn.

In their past life, Rowan had relentlessly propped up Ford Enterprises while systematically destroying Fairchild Holdings.

Caleb had suffered a devastating defeat at Rowan's hands.

When Caleb died, his resentment had been far deeper than hers. He had practically been forced to his knees by Rowan.

And afterward, his wife probably ended up with someone else, considering he was dead.

If Caleb had any idea what happened, he would never speak about Rowan so casually.

"Are you tempted? Did all that money blind you?" Lyra yelled. "Let me make this perfectly clear. If you agree to his deal, you are no longer my brother!"

With that, Lyra slammed the door and stormed back into her room.

She didn't say another word, simply picking up the past few days' newspapers to read.
