She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 265

Lyra didn't care in the slightest about Victoria's opinions.

When she got back from her meeting, the receptionist stopped her again. Another massive bouquet of flowers had been delivered. Frowning, Lyra reluctantly took the arrangement.

"The next time someone sends flowers, find out exactly who it's from. If they won't give a name, reject the delivery and send it right back."

A few days later, after work, Lyra was riding home in Caleb's car. His phone buzzed—the caller ID read Rowan.

Lyra shot him a sharp look.

Caleb caught her gaze.

When he answered, Rowan's deep voice came through the speaker, asking him out for drinks.

Lyra vigorously shook Caleb's arm, mouthing at him to say no.

Caleb agreed to the plans anyway.

The moment he hung up, Lyra scowled. "What was that about?"

"Why are you suddenly in contact with Rowan?"

"I didn't reach out to him," Caleb replied. "That was the first time he's ever called me."

Caleb checked the time and glanced at her. "Wanna come with?"

"Hell no."

Lyra rejected the offer instantly. "And you shouldn't go either."

Keeping his eyes on the road, Caleb smiled faintly. "Can't do that. He reached out personally. There might be an opportunity on the table, otherwise he wouldn't just call out of the blue."

Frustration bubbled in Lyra's chest. "You two aren't even friends! Just make up an excuse. Tell him you need to go home to your wife. Kayla is five months pregnant, for God's sake."

Caleb stared straight ahead and offered a casual, "It's business networking. You wouldn't understand."

"Jayden?" Lyra was momentarily stunned. After a brief hesitation, she opened the door and slid into the passenger seat.

The car merged smoothly back into traffic. Looking at the road ahead, Jayden said, "I sent the flowers to your office. My team mentioned you're not accepting deliveries anymore."

Lyra's heart skipped a beat. A wave of nervous tension washed over her, and her posture stiffened.

"Why... why would you send me flowers?"

She paused, her voice tinged with panic, but she knew she had to make her boundaries crystal clear.

"I already have a boyfriend."

She had gifted Caspian that car specifically to end their fake arrangement, but right now, she had no choice but to pull him out as a shield again.

Jayden glanced at her, his tone perfectly even. "I didn't expect that..."

"But then again, someone as exceptional as you is bound to have admirers."
