She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 916

Learning that Myles was from Yarnwick City, Giselle was pleasantly surprised. "That's a crazy coincidence. I'm actually flying to Yarnwick City tomorrow for a business trip."

Myles looked equally surprised. "Really? I've been invited to give a guest lecture at the university campus over there tomorrow. Are you flying out?"

Giselle nodded. "Yes, the 7:00 AM flight."

Myles exchanged contact details with her, offering a warm smile. "Then please let me show you the local sights while we're there."

"I'd love that," she smiled.

"Sir! Please don't destroy the café's reading materials!" a waiter scolded loudly.

The commotion caught Giselle's attention. She turned her head, met those furious, glaring eyes, and her smile instantly vanished.

Myles noticed her shift in mood and looked back. "Is everything okay?"

"It's fine," Giselle deflected. They chatted for a little while longer before Myles's phone buzzed. Another emergency at the hospital—he couldn't stay for dinner.

Giselle assured him it was fine, and he paid the bill before rushing off.

The second he was gone, Giselle stood up, marched straight over to Hank's table, and glared at him. "Are you stalking me?"

Hank quickly adjusted his expression. "I just happened to be grabbing a coffee. Is it a crime that I bumped into you on your date?"

"Men like you don't drink coffee in places like this," she shot back.

"What kind of man am I? And why can't I drink here?" Hank stared her down. "If you can sit here and drink with other men, why can't I get a cup of coffee?"

Giselle didn't have the energy to argue. She pressed her lips together. "I'm going to stop these dates. I'm not going to drag innocent people into this mess."

"Who said I'm going to hound you for the rest of your life?"

Hank's face hardened as he stood up. "Why wouldn't I be able to let you go? You think I have to be in love with you forever?"

Giselle was taken aback.

"I won't interfere in your life," he continued coldly. "Whoever you date, whoever you end up with, that's your business. I won't get in your way. If that's the happiness you want, go get it."

With that, he turned on his heel and walked out of the café.

She genuinely hadn't expected to hear him say that. Was it really just a coincidence?

Shaking off her confusion, she left the café shortly after.

But looking at Hank's tragically handsome face, she felt a surge of pity. She pushed the cash back toward him. "Just give me your ID so I can register you properly, and I'll put you right next door. Keep your money, handsome. I know how hard you young people work for your paychecks."

Hank's lips twitched. "Thank you, ma'am."

He took the key card and went straight upstairs. The moment he stepped into his room, he sat down at the desk pressed against the shared wall. Older buildings like this had zero soundproofing. He could hear every loud word, every scrape of a chair from the next room with crystal clarity.

He knew she was in there, organizing her luggage.

Around 6:00 PM, Giselle had just stepped out of the shower when her phone buzzed.

It was a voice note from Myles, his tone light and breezy. "Hey Giselle, I just got into Yarnwick. Where are you staying? Are you free tonight? I'd love to take you out for some local street food."

Drying her hair, Giselle thought it over and texted him the name of the inn.

Myles quickly sent back his location. He was staying fairly close, about a twenty-minute drive away. He followed up with another text: "I'll pick you up at seven. There's a snack street right behind the university campus. It's been there for twenty years, the food is incredibly authentic."

Giselle replied with a simple "Sounds great," tossed her phone on the bed, and pulled a light jacket from her suitcase.

At exactly seven o'clock, Hank stood by his window, his expression like thunder as he watched Giselle walk out the front door and slide into the passenger seat of Myles's waiting car.
