She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 1021

Molly scrambled out of her chair and tried to shove the woman out the door. "Let's talk outside! Not here!" she hissed through gritted teeth.

"What? Playing the good girl now?" Miranda let out a manic, desperate laugh. "I've been looking for you for six months. You ruined my livelihood, got my husband killed, and then you just walked away to play white-collar and marry well? Molly, you bitch, how do you sleep at night?"

Swain stepped up, pulling Molly behind him. "Who are you? Back off and don't harass my wife."

"Who am I?" Miranda looked at him, her eyes filled with bitter irony. "Why don't you ask your lovely wife if she knows Miranda Nash?"

Molly trembled violently.

Miranda smelled of cheap perfume and despair. It was impossible for Swain's parents to connect this exhausted, heavily made-up woman with their perfect daughter-in-law.

"We worked at the same gentlemen's club," Miranda said, pointing a finger at Molly. "She was an exotic dancer, and so was I. Our stage names were so similar that clients constantly got us mixed up. Because of that, she stole my regulars, and I got my pay docked. My husband was in the hospital waiting for treatment money, and I begged her to cut me a break. Do you know what she did?"

Miranda's eyes went red, but her voice steadied into a lethal calm. "She hooked up with a rich client who made all her problems disappear. And before she left the club, she framed me for stealing. I was fired, blacklisted from every club in the city, and my husband died in the hospital because we couldn't afford his medical bills."

The room went dead silent.

Martha paled. Carl slowly lowered his newspaper, his expression darkening.

"You're lying! Get out! I don't know this lunatic!" Molly finally screamed, her pristine facade cracking. Why was this happening? Why today, on the day her future was finally secured? Morris Lonsdale was supposed to have erased her past!

Molly dug her manicured nails into Swain's arm. "Swain, don't listen to her! It's all lies! I don't even know her!"

"Don't know me?" Miranda pulled a stack of photos from her pocket and tossed them onto the table.

The glossy images fanned out, showing a woman in revealing lingerie, dancing provocatively under neon lights. The face was unmistakably Molly's.

"That's you, right? The headliner at the Rose Revue. You made more in tips in one night than normal people make in six months. Did you tell your new husband where your money really came from? Or your fake degree?"
