She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 851

Loyce pressed her lips together. "Get out. I'll handle this myself."

Quintin finally realized what she meant, but he wasn't on board. "Loyce, you're pregnant. Shouldn't I just hire a call girl for the boss?"

She narrowed her eyes, her tone dropping dangerously. "Excuse me?"

Quintin immediately shut his mouth. "I'm leaving."

As soon as the door clicked shut, Loyce reached for the buttons of her blouse. Before she could undo them all, a frenzied Lucian shoved her back against the heavy bedroom door.

A muffled thud echoed as her back hit the solid wood. It wasn't painfully hard, but it was enough to make her realize the terrifying, raw power he was desperately trying to keep caged inside.

He planted both hands on the door beside her head. The veins in his arms bulged, his entire body trembling violently.

He kept his head bowed, his scorching breath hitting the curve of her neck. He was like a cornered beast, fighting a primal urge to tear through his invisible cage while simultaneously using every ounce of his willpower to chain himself down.

"Loyce..." His voice was so hoarse it was practically shattered, his teeth grinding together. "No. Get... a rope. Tie me up."

He wanted her to chain him, just like the first time she had found him. If he was locked up, he could suffer through the agonizing withdrawal alone without hurting anyone.

Lucian fought with everything he had to step back, to force her to find something to bind him, but his body was completely betraying him.

The damn drug was burning through his veins like battery acid, incinerating his sanity, leaving him with only one single, consuming desire—

But he couldn't.

He clung to his last shred of clarity.

She was pregnant.

His child was growing inside her. He had to protect them both.

But Loyce made no move to find a rope.

She stood perfectly still, lifting her hands to gently cup his face, forcing him to meet her gaze.

His eyes were bloodshot, the pupils dilated as his sanity was swallowed whole.

"Lucian," she said, her voice soft, steady, and cool like a mountain spring. "Look at me."

His breathing was ragged, his chest heaving as his Adam's apple bobbed sharply.

"You won't hurt me."

She stated it not as a hope, but as an absolute, undeniable fact.

Her thumbs gently stroked his cheekbones. His skin was burning up, but her touch remained as tender as if she were soothing a wounded animal.

Lucian's eyes instantly welled with unshed tears.

Seeing him like this, the tight, anxious knot in Loyce's chest finally loosened.

She gave a small nod.

The bed was plush, the lighting dim.

Lucian laid her back against the mattress with agonizing care, treating her like priceless, fragile glass. Hovering over her, his gaze was dark with an intoxicating blend of primal need and meticulous, terrified restraint.

Loyce reached up, wrapping her arms around his neck. Pulling him down, she slipped a highly concentrated Frost Peppermint pill from her own mouth into his.

Unable to hold back any longer, he crushed her to his chest. He kissed her deep and hard, savoring the sweetness melting on his tongue.

Yet, even in the throes of passion, his movements remained devastatingly careful.

Loyce couldn't help but smile against his lips at his rigid control.

"I'm not made of sugar, you know," she murmured.

He dipped his head, kissing her closed eyelids, his voice a low vibration against her skin.

"You and the baby are everything."

She looked up at him—at the sweat gleaming on his skin, the bulging veins, the sheer physical toll of him holding back just to keep her safe. With a soft smile, she pulled him closer, arching into his touch and matching his rhythm.
