After changing into a sleek pantsuit and grabbing a fresh Americano, she headed straight to the studio with her bag in hand.
The weather had been exceptionally mild lately, and the warm morning sun felt incredible on her skin.
When she walked into the studio, she found her staff huddled in a tight circle, whispering anxiously.
"What's going on?"
Shera peered through the gap between them. Resting on the center table was an elegant box, left half-open to reveal a neatly folded sheath dress inside.
She recognized it instantly. It was the piece Mr. Winston had custom-ordered for his wife back at the Hayes family estate.
"Was this returned?"
Seeing Shera, the staff quickly stepped back to give her space.
She picked up the dress and inspected it carefully, but couldn't immediately spot any glaring flaws.
"What's wrong with it?"
Zena, her assistant, looked absolutely miserable. "It's the embroidery. The client explicitly requested double-sided embroidery, but the dress is only single-sided."
Shera didn't say a word. She lifted the garment out of the box and checked the interior lining.
Single-sided.
Her stomach dropped. "Where's the contract?"
Zena quickly handed over the prepared document. It was right there in black and white: Full embroidery, double-sided, plum blossom pattern.
"Who was overseeing this order?"
Zena hesitated, looking like a child caught stealing candy. "I was. But I swear I specifically reminded the embroiderers. I have no idea why..."
Shera shot her a look but didn't push the blame onto her.
The studio had only just gotten off the ground, and they were drowning in back-to-back orders. Mistakes were bound to happen.
Blowing up at her wouldn't fix the dress. Figuring out a way to minimize the damage was the priority.
