She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 27

The mix of hard liquor and beer hit her fast and hard.

It didn't take long for Shera to become completely intoxicated, leaning heavily against the marble vanity to keep herself upright.

Standing nervously by the hallway, the boy asked, "Miss, are you okay?"

He knew she was a lightweight, but he hadn't expected it to be this bad. He quickly pulled out a few wet wipes and handed them to her, his voice full of concern.

"I'll go grab you a bottle of water. Stay right here, don't wander off."

Shera nodded, her eyes already unfocused, her cheeks burning crimson.

She carelessly tied up her long hair, turned on the faucet, and splashed handfuls of cold water onto her face.

When she looked up, a tall, imposing figure suddenly appeared in the mirror.

Caden?

She stared at the reflection for a few seconds before aggressively shaking her head.

She really was wasted. She was hallucinating now.

Wiping the water off her face, she tossed the paper towel into the trash and stumbled out of the restroom, her steps unsteady.

But the second she turned around, a massive shadow loomed over her, completely blocking her path.

She froze, assuming she had just walked the wrong way, and sidestepped to go around.

But no matter which way she moved, the "wall" moved with her.

Shera frowned in annoyance, muttering, "Where did the door go... I swear it was right here."

A cold scoff echoed above her head.

"Can't handle your liquor but still trying to act tough. You've really outdone yourself."

Caden reached out and grabbed her swaying body, his eyes dripping with disdain. "Where's your 'little boyfriend'? Left you here all by yourself?"

Shera's vision was completely blurred. Too exhausted to decipher whether the man in front of her was real or fake, she yanked her arm free and gave an exaggerated, wobbly nod.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry to bother you, I can walk myself."

*Heh.*

Seeing her act so stubborn when she couldn't even stand straight, Caden simply let go.
