Justin Jameson stood next to the car, looking just as frustrated as everyone else. "Stop yelling at me! What do you want me to do? You think I planned this? I already called a tow truck!"
"But your tow truck won't be here for over half an hour! When we're all late, who's going to take the blame?"
"Yeah! A rich guy like you might not care, but the rest of us are working stiffs. We get docked pay for every minute we're late!"
"Put it on my tab, then! If anyone docks your pay, come find me!" Justin was fuming. For once, he had actually wanted to get to the office early. He had just been driving along perfectly fine, and out of nowhere, the damn car had died.
Faced with the growing crowd of angry drivers and the deafening chorus of honking horns, Justin wanted to scream. In a fit of rage, he delivered a vicious kick to one of the tires.
Just as he was taking out his anger on the wheel, a familiar female voice sounded from behind him. "Move."
Justin froze. He was already drowning in anxiety and irritation, ready to snap at whichever woman had the audacity to push his buttons right now. He whipped around—only to see Hulda staring at him with a dead-serious expression.
"What are you doing here?"
Hulda hadn't expected the owner of the Panamera blocking the entire road to be Justin, either.
Normally, she wouldn't have bothered getting involved in a mess like this.
But today was different. She was in a hurry to get to the institute.
Without another word, she kept her face perfectly stoic, shoved Justin away from the driver's side door, and slid right into the seat.
"What the hell are you doing, Hulda? This is my car! Get out!" Justin had never liked her. In fact, his feelings bordered on outright disgust.
As far as he was concerned, Hulda was just a manipulative gold digger who had schemed her way into Herbert Jewell's bed. She had managed to marry him, but she was entirely useless—nothing more than a clueless, burdensome housewife holding Herbert back.
Hulda ignored him completely. Sitting in the driver's seat, she turned the key with a focused expression.
