By the time Hulda and Sienna finished their statements and walked out, it was past midnight.
The young girl was still deeply shaken, clinging tightly to Hulda's side.
"Hulda, it's the guy who saved us," Sienna whispered, her voice still trembling as she pointed ahead.
Hulda looked up. Caspian's tall, imposing figure was standing under a streetlight, on the phone.
Whatever he was saying, his expression was fiercely cold, his aura intimidating.
Under the dim amber light, his shadow stretched long across the pavement.
Noticing her gaze, he hung up and walked over.
Watching him approach, Hulda's first instinct was to run. But seeing her phone in his hand, she forced herself to stay put.
He stopped three feet away. "Your phone."
"Thank you," she said quietly, taking it from him.
Beside her, Sienna looked up at Caspian and blurted out, "Wow, you're so handsome, like a college boy."
Caspian's brow darkened. "A college boy?"
He refused to accept being relegated to a younger generation than Hulda.
"You treat her with the utmost respect, yet you talk to me like we're at a frat party? Call me sir."
Sienna was deeply intimidated by his cold stare and stammered, "S-Sir..."
Due to the age dynamics, she was supposed to show absolute deference to Hulda, as Hulda had been her father's protégé.
But this man was so fiercely intimidating!
Terrified, Sienna hid behind Hulda, too scared to meet his eyes again.
"Mr. Sterling, she's young. Please don't frighten her," Hulda said. She kept her eyes lowered, refusing to look at him, her tone distant and detached.
Caspian let out a cold laugh. He took a step closer, a suffocating pressure radiating off him. "Hulda, I just saved your life. Do you remember?"
"Yes, I remember. And I already said thank you." Her face was completely blank, her voice as flat as ever.
He laughed in sheer frustration. "So a simple 'thank you' is enough?"
