She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 26

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No," Hulda answered truthfully.

The receptionists shared another glance, their eyes practically screaming, 'I knew it.'

"I'm sorry, but Mr. Jewell is incredibly busy. You can't see him without an appointment," the girl replied, keeping her tone professionally polite.

The other girl chimed in, "Why don't you try giving him a call?"

Hulda took one last look at their rehearsed, corporate smiles, knowing arguing would be pointless.

She reached for her phone before remembering that the man had just blocked her.

With a helpless sigh, she looked back at the desk. "Could you please call his extension? Tell him I'm waiting for him. I'm his..."

"Hulda?"

Before she could finish, a male voice cut her off.

She turned instinctively.

Justin Jameson had just walked into the lobby and spotted a woman who looked suspiciously like Hulda Atherton standing at the front desk.

Once he confirmed it was really her, his brow furrowed deeply. He marched over and yanked her away from the desk without a word.

Caught off guard, Hulda stumbled as he dragged her along.

He didn't stop until they reached a secluded corner, glaring at her with open hostility.
