She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 27

When the secretary ushered Justin into the office, Herbert was buried in paperwork behind his desk.

The two of them had co-founded the tech company; Herbert handled the management and technical side, while Justin oversaw the funding and marketing.

They had been high school classmates. Unlike the scholarly legacy of the Jewell family, the Jamesons were textbook new money.

Years ago, Justin's family had made an absolute fortune through stock trading, real estate flips, and city redevelopment buyouts. From there, they diversified their investments, casting a wide net that secured their massive wealth.

Today, the Jameson family was a powerhouse investment dynasty in Aldercy City.

As the heir to the family empire, Justin had been groomed in finance since childhood. When Herbert first wanted to launch a tech startup, he realized his ambitions far exceeded his capital. The moment Justin heard about it, he threw his money behind him without hesitation.

In just a few short years, the two of them had built the startup into one of the country's leading tech firms.

Knowing it was Justin, Herbert didn't even look up, his pen flying across the page.

Justin was used to this. After waving off the secretary, he strolled over and dropped Hulda's divorce papers right onto Herbert's desk.

Interrupted, Herbert frowned. "What is this?"

Justin slumped lazily onto the couch, his tone dripping with disdain. "Hulda gave it to me. Told me to hand it over."

At the sound of her name, a flash of pure annoyance crossed Herbert's eyes. When he read the words 'Divorce Agreement' on the cover, his irritation hit a boiling point.

"Ridiculous," he scoffed. Without a second thought, he grabbed the thick stack of papers and shoved them directly into the shredder next to his desk.

Justin watched the machine chew the documents to pieces. "She actually came all the way down here to deliver that. You're just going to shred it without even glancing at it?"

Herbert went back to writing, his tone casual. "What's there to look at? She probably just printed some template off the internet."

Justin fiddled with his tie. "Aren't you worried she actually wants to go through with it?"
