Watching Hulda walk away, and seeing that Herbert was still firmly taking her side, the last traces of panic in Sylvie's heart vanished. A sweet smile returned to her face. "Let's get on board, everyone, or we'll miss the sunset! Don't worry, I meticulously checked the weather data, and there won't be any issues. Today is all about having fun and relaxing!"
"Alright! Everyone on board!" Herbert announced with a smile.
The man in glasses led the charge, practically sprinting onto the yacht. The rest of the staff eagerly followed.
It was true—the sun was shining and the weather was beautiful. So what if the wind was a little erratic? It was no big deal.
If Ms. Sinclair said it was fine, then it was definitely fine!
The dock staff were equally thrilled. The resort hadn't seen many guests lately, meaning the marina was practically dead. They weren't about to let such a massive payday slip through their fingers.
Sylvie and Herbert were the last to board.
Sporting a dazzling smile, Sylvie noticed Herbert walking a bit slowly. She happily skipped back and naturally took his hand. "Hurry up, Mr. Jewell! Everyone is waiting for us!"
Infected by her radiant energy, Herbert couldn't help but smile. He let her pull him along onto the luxurious yacht.
Looking at the bright, cheerful girl holding his hand, his mind briefly drifted back to Hulda.
That idiotic woman. It was bad enough she was petty and jealous, but to concoct such a laughably pathetic excuse right in front of his core management team?
He didn't expect much from Hulda anymore—just that she behave, know her place, and stop causing scenes. Why couldn't she even manage that?
Whatever. He didn't know how she got into the resort, but her cards and allowance were cut off. Whatever savings she had must be running dry after living in hotels these past few days. Without money, she wouldn't be able to survive in a high-end resort for long. Eventually, she would have no choice but to drag herself back home.
Once everyone was safely aboard, the yacht's engine roared to life, steering out toward the undeveloped island in the deep sea.
...
When Hulda returned to her room, she found Abby glued to her laptop, typing away furiously.
