She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 126

"She's right. The weather is gorgeous, the sun is shining, what could possibly go wrong?" the man in glasses spoke up.

"I checked the weather app too. It didn't say anything about severe storms."

The rest of the group quickly chimed in with their agreement.

At that moment, the man in glasses added, "Wait, I remember now. Isn't she the woman who showed up at our company making a scene with Mr. Jewell right before the institute executives came to inspect us? The one who made Ms. Sinclair cry?"

Everyone present was either a manager or a core tech lead at H&J. During Hulda and Brandon Lowe's inspection visit, they had all been called down to the lobby.

Naturally, they had witnessed the tense confrontation between Herbert, Sylvie, and Hulda.

Reminded of this, the rest of the staff suddenly connected the dots.

Seeing Sylvie bullied to tears last time had already earned Hulda their collective resentment. Now, knowing this woman had actually stalked their boss all the way to the resort just to sabotage their retreat made her absolutely despicable!

Sylvie stepped forward, moving to stand right beside Herbert, her eyes already brimming with tears. "I know you don't want to see me going out on the yacht with Mr. Jewell, Hulda, and that's why you made up this excuse to stop us. Fine, I just won't go. Let Mr. Jewell and the team go without me, is that okay? Today is our company retreat. Can you please put aside your personal grudges and stop causing trouble for everyone?"

In just a few sentences, Sylvie completely twisted Hulda's genuine warning into an act of petty, jealous sabotage.

Her words threw gasoline on the already raging fire of loyalty her coworkers felt for her.

"Who does this woman think she is? Why is she interfering with our company event!" the man in glasses yelled aggressively.

"Why shouldn't Ms. Sinclair go? If she stays, we all stay!"

"Yeah! Ms. Sinclair is the sweetest person ever, why is she always targeting her?"

Hulda could see just how much influence and popularity Sylvie had built within the company. Of course, she couldn't have done it without Herbert's constant backing.

She looked at Herbert. Just like always, the man was frowning at her, his eyes filled with nothing but disappointment and impatience.

"Hulda, go home. Stop embarrassing yourself out here!"

His response to her was the same dismissive, contemptuous garbage as always.
