She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 120

At first, she thought she just wasn't using enough strength, so she forced her muscles to lock up. Instead of stabilizing, the shaking only got worse.

She released the arrow. It didn't just miss the bullseye—it completely missed the target block entirely.

"Ugh," she sighed softly. Clearly, she wasn't naturally gifted at everything.

But she wasn't one to quit. She pulled another arrow, nocked it, and drew the string back.

Just as she was about to let it fly, a towering presence appeared right behind her.

"Turn your body a bit more sideways," Caspian said, his large hands gripping her shoulders and physically shifting her stance.

The sudden, firm touch made her freeze. Her breath hitched slightly in her throat.

"Don't get distracted," his deep voice rumbled right by her ear. "Control your breathing."

Her eyes fluttered, and she forced her focus back to the target.

He reached around her, his arms caging her in as he adjusted the angle of her grip. "Your index finger is too tense. It's making the riser wobble."

She followed his instruction, loosening her grip on the bow slightly.

Immediately, the shaking subsided.

He leaned in a fraction closer, his chest brushing her back as his hands covered hers to stabilize her aim. "Relax," he murmured softly.

She took a deep breath, forcing the rigid tension out of her shoulders.

"Alright. Release."

The second the word left his mouth, she let the string slip from her fingers.

*Thwack.*

The arrow slammed directly into the bullseye.

"I hit it!" she cheered, jumping up in excitement. She spun around to celebrate—and crashed directly into his solid chest.

They were practically flush against each other. So close she could hear his heartbeat and feel the heat of his breath.

He looked down at her, his eyes dark and bottomless, his breathing suddenly heavy.

She stared up into his eyes, temporarily short-circuiting.

"Hulda!" Abby's voice echoed through the hall, shattering the moment into a million pieces.
