With every single outfit change, Melanie made the stylist tweak Daphne's hair and makeup to perfectly match the look.
And every single time, Melanie secretly snapped pictures and uploaded them to The Feed.
Five dresses. Five separate posts. All tagging Everett.
But as Melanie stared at her phone, waiting with bated breath, her notifications remained completely dead. Nothing in the comments, nothing in her messages.
"What the hell? Did he not see it?"
She muttered to herself, furrowing her brow.
"Did who not see what?"
Daphne suddenly popped her head out, making Melanie jump and flip her phone face-down on the chair.
"Nothing! Nobody."
Melanie shook her head, offering a wildly guilty smile.
"Alright, that's five dresses down. Can we please go now?"
Seeing her friend trying to escape, Melanie physically blocked her path.
"Not a chance! We finished the dresses, now it's time for the two-piece sets! Try them all on."
And just like that, Daphne was shoved back into the fitting room.
Even though changing in and out of clothes was exhausting, the quality of the outfits was so incredibly high that Daphne was actually starting to enjoy herself.
It was just...
She still couldn't shake the feeling that she was an imposter in these clothes.
She was so used to oversized tees and denim that putting on such overtly feminine garments made her feel slightly schizophrenic.
Plus, this boutique was violently expensive. She couldn't afford a single thread in here.
Before they knew it, two solid hours had flown by.
Daphne modeled outfit after outfit, and Melanie fired off post after post.
And yet, it was still crickets from Everett.
Melanie finally lost her patience and messaged him directly:
[Did you see my posts on The Feed?]
This time, his reply was instant:
[I saw them.]
Melanie scoffed and typed back:
[Well? What do you think of Daphne's new outfits?]
