"Gavin, you're awake!"
A woman's voice cut through his panic. Gavin blinked a few times before turning to see Melanie casually walking down the stairs from the second floor. Like Preston, she was already impeccably dressed for the day.
"Holy shit!" Gavin repeated, his brain short-circuiting.
"Did I sleep with you?" Gavin asked, pointing a trembling finger at Melanie, then whipped it back to Preston. "Wait... did you two sleep together?"
Realizing the math wasn't mathing, he pointed a finger at his own chest. "Hold on... did the three of us sleep together?!"
Melanie's eye twitched violently. "How about you go back to sleep and try waking up again?"
Gavin rubbed his pounding temples, his face twisted in utter confusion. Right on cue, the room service Preston had ordered arrived, rolling in a lavish spread for lunch. By the time Gavin had finally dragged himself out of bed, it was already noon.
Over the meal, Melanie gave him a brief rundown of the drunken spectacle he had caused at the Eclipse Noir Club. Gavin's face flushed with deep embarrassment.
"God, I'm so sorry. I drank way too much last night. Please don't hold it against me."
"I'm not the one you need to apologize to. Daphne is."
At the mention of her name, blurred fragments of the night flickered in Gavin's mind. He vaguely recalled screaming at Daphne, maybe even throwing a punch. He buried his face in his hands, absolutely mortified.
Then, another memory surfaced—Everett had been there, and he had stepped in to protect Daphne.
Gavin's expression shifted into something incredibly complicated. It was a mix of profound disappointment, loss, and quiet anger.
"It's nothing..." Gavin muttered, staring blankly at the table. "I just realized... Dominic, Everett, and I have known each other for years, but in the end, I'm the one who turned out to be the biggest trainwreck."
"Melanie, do you know something?" he asked, his voice deadly serious.
Melanie nodded, her expression just as grave. "Of course I do... Dominic was the one who tricked you into signing off on it. And then, he stood in front of your grandfather and pinned the entire disaster on you."
Gavin stared at her, utterly paralyzed.
Meanwhile, back at the Eclipse Noir Club.
On the third floor, inside Daphne's private apartment, Everett finally woke up. The morning sun was already blazing through the windows.
He blinked at the unfamiliar ceiling, then pulled the covers back. He was completely naked.
