Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1222

Eartha looked at the furious Lizetta with a mocking smirk.

"What do you know?! Elsa and I grew up together. We were both the only daughters in our families. Why did she get everything she wanted? Her parents treated her like a treasure, named her the heir, and gave her the entire Madden family. But what about me? I was the youngest, my parents' only daughter, yet they constantly looked down on me, degraded me, and exploited me!

Elsa fell in love with Conrad West, a man from an ordinary background, and her parents indulged her. They brought him into the family, doing everything to ensure she got what she wanted.

But my parents? Heh. For the sake of the Porter family, they forced me to marry a violent, abusive piece of trash, knowing exactly what he was.

Watching me get beaten and abused, they just told me to endure it!"

Lizetta watched Eartha's expression grow increasingly unhinged with jealousy. Shaking with anger, she asked in disbelief.

"So, you hated my mother and wanted to steal everything she had?"

Eartha's expression stiffened, her hands clenching into tight fists.

She looked across at Nelson. "Yes! If you want to blame someone, blame yourselves for loving your daughter too much. That's why I went crazy with jealousy. I wanted to steal it all. I wanted to be Elsa Madden!"

Nelson was visibly shaken, and Lizetta couldn't take it anymore.

Breaking free from Remington, she lunged forward and slapped Eartha hard across the face.

Eartha hadn't expected her to strike. She froze, a red handprint blooming instantly on her cheek.

Ever since her divorce, no one had dared lay a hand on her.

For nearly twenty years, she had lived a life of prestige and glamour.

Because of the Maddens' favoritism, even Archibald and Miriam had treated her with respect.

When she married Conrad, who held so many shares in the Madden Group, her ambitious father had fawned over her.

In recent years, her status in the Porter family had eclipsed even her useless brothers.

"Are you hurt?"

Remington shielded Lizetta, checking her over intently.

He was visibly tense, terrified that Eartha had managed to hurt her.

Lizetta shook her head. "I'm fine."

Startled by the sudden violence, Nelson and Jerome let out a collective breath of relief.

Nelson gave Remington an appreciative glance before turning his cold, emotionless eyes toward Eartha, who was still struggling to get up.

Lizetta stepped away from Remington, leaning slightly toward her grandfather.

"Grandpa, she's just a soulless bully. Let's get you home so you don't have to listen to her poison anymore."
