Stella's interruption was stifled, and Lizetta quickly seized the floor again.
"Even though Remington had absolutely no responsibility for what happened back then, he never gave up searching for her all these years. He respected her parents as his own godparents, visited and cared for them every holiday without fail, and threw all his resources into supporting the West family's business. He personally tracked her down, risked his life to help rescue her, and brought her home. Is all of that still not enough? And what did the West family do to us in return? If it weren't for the sheer luck of me and my son surviving, do you think we would even be standing here today?"
Lizetta laid out her grievances flawlessly. She knew how to show vulnerability too. As she finished, her eyes welled with tears, and she quickly turned her back to the cameras.
Remington instantly pulled her into his embrace, raising a hand to shield her face so the lenses couldn't capture her fragile, tearful moment.
But Lizetta composed herself with lightning speed. She gently pushed his hand away, turned back to the cameras with a radiant, fearless smile, and delivered her final blow.
"We have a clear conscience and fear no rumors. We trust the law will deliver the most just verdict."
By now, a large crowd of onlookers had gathered behind the reporters—mostly local residents and staff who had been following the online drama. Whispers rippled through the crowd.
"Mr. Dashiell has done more than enough. Two kids get kidnapped, the one who escapes doesn't owe the one who didn't a damn thing."
"Even if you argue he owed her out of sentiment, he literally spent years finding her. Her tragic life wasn't caused by him. It has nothing to do with him."
"He didn't chop off her finger. What, did they want him to chop off his own hand to make it fair?"
"Martin West was always a terrible businessman. The only reason the West family stayed afloat all these years was because the Dashiell family pumped endless money and resources into them."

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
