Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1221

"Especially the butler. He was one of your most trusted men, someone you'd employed for a lifetime. Even when I threatened him back then, I could still see the hesitation in his eyes.

I waited a week, but nothing happened. The day I went to the estate, I ran into him and took the opportunity to issue another warning. To my surprise, he wasn't intimidated at all and planned to tell you everything. Our argument was overheard by Bernice.

The butler and I were both startled. She rushed out and confronted me, highly agitated.

I was lost and panicked, thinking it was all over. But to my shock, she suddenly fainted.

I admit, while she was unconscious, I had some dark thoughts...

I even thought about poisoning her so she would never wake up."

Eartha smiled self-deprecatingly, the expression cold and heartless.

Lizetta bit her lip so hard she tasted copper.

Sensing her emotional turmoil, Remington pulled her closer and gently squeezed her jaw, forcing her to release her bite.

Her lips parted slightly.

She turned to look at Remington, meeting his concerned gaze. Exhaling a breath, she offered a faint smile before turning her icy glare back to Eartha.

"But in the end, I just wasn't ruthless enough. Remembering how well she had treated me—even better than my own mother had—I couldn't bring myself to poison her."

Jerome's voice was sharp. "So you do remember how good our grandparents were to you?!"

At that, a flicker of emotion crossed Eartha's eyes.

"Yes, I'm a venomous snake, but I did soften up back then. I didn't do it. I had it all figured out.

I planned to insist that I had just discovered Andrea was a fake and had threatened the butler to keep quiet because I was afraid the shock would kill you both. If I was suspected, then so be it. But I never expected that when Bernice woke up, the trauma would wipe her mind. Heh, it seemed even God was on my side.

But if He was on my side, why didn't He see it through to the end?! Just when I was about to have everything, He made me lose it all!"

A heavy, resentful gloom settled over Eartha's features.

Seeing her like this, Lizetta felt a profound chill for her mother and grandparents.

Especially knowing that her grandmother's illness was caused by severe trauma. If not for that, she might have been perfectly fine. Lizetta wanted nothing more than to rip that unrepentant look off Eartha's face.

"Eartha, you're a monster!"
