New Arrival-T
The tension in the royal clinic was palpable as Markus paced the length of the waiting room, his usually calm and composed demeanor utterly shattered. His mind raced, a whirlwind of emotions overtaking him, fear, excitement, worry, each fighting for dominance. Inside the delivery room, he knew Kaia was enduring one of the most painful yet miraculous moments of her life, and the thought of being unable to help her tortured him.
His mate was a warrior, strong and resilient, but right now, the primal urge to protect her from any harm, to share in her pain, was overwhelming. Every minute stretched into what felt like hours, and all Markus could do was wait.
Inside the room, Kaia felt like her body was on fire. Every muscle screamed; every nerve seemed to pulse with electric pain. It felt like one million tiny blades stabbing into her, wave after wave, and yet, deep within, there was also something more, something powerful. Her inner wolf, Sierra, was pacing, her presence stronger than it had ever been.
“Our pup is almost here,” Sierra’s voice growled softly in the back of Kaia’s mind, her tone both eager and protective. It was the only thing keeping Kaia grounded through the waves of agony that rippled through her body. She clung to that thought, knowing that on the other side of this pain, their child, her and Markus’ son, would finally be there.
A contraction ripped through her, and Kaia groaned, squeezing the hand of the midwife at her side. “Almost there, Your Highness,” the midwife said in a calm, steady tone, though the intensity of the moment made it clear that this was no ordinary birth.
Markus, who had been allowed in the meantime in the room, despite his overwhelming anxiety, stood by Kaia’s side, holding her other hand. His usually calm, electric blue eyes were wild with concern and helplessness. “I’m here, love,” he whispered into her ear, brushing damp hair from her forehead. “You’re
doing so well. You’re incredible.”
Kaia nodded, though the pain was making it hard to focus. She felt as if she were on the edge of
something, both physically and emotionally. She had always known this moment would come, but nothing
could have prepared her for the intensity of it all. The pain, the anticipation, the feeling of her body
laboring to bring life into the world. It was overwhelming.
“Just one more push, my Queen,” the midwife encouraged, her voice strong and reassuring.
Kaia grit her teeth and bore down with everything she had, her body straining as the pain reached a crescendo. Her hands gripped Markus’ arm, nails digging into his skin as she pushed with every ounce of strength left in her. Sierra let out a fierce growl in the back of her mind, pushing her on, sharing her
Kaia’s breath caught in her throat as she looked down at her child. His tiny face was flushed from the exertion of birth, his fists clenched as he continued to wail, but to Kaia, he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
Markus knelt beside her, his face softened by awe. His large hand gently stroked the baby’s cheek, his fingers trembling slightly as if he couldn’t quite believe that this little life had come from them.
