Azriel blinked, the tension in his body still not fully dissipated as he tried to process her words. “A gift? What do you mean?” His tone was edged with both curiosity and disbelief, as though his mind couldn’t fully grasp the concept of what had just occurred.

Lora nodded slowly. “During the time I was unconscious, after the battle with the lycans… I met the Moon Goddess. She spoke to me, and she granted me a new ability.” She paused, watching as Azriel’s eyes widened, absorbing the weight of her words. “I can’t be hurt, at least not physically. No weapon, no blade, no attack can truly harm me anymore. The Goddess made sure of that.”

Azriel’s jaw clenched, the mix of emotions swirling in his eyes, disbelief, relief, awe, and something close

to reverence. “You… you can’t be hurt? Ever?”

“Not physically,” she confirmed, looking down at her now-healed chest once more. “I wasn’t entirely sure

how it would work, but I guess today was the ultimate test.”

Markus, still holding the knife, shook his head in amazement, glancing from the blade to Lora. “The Moon Goddess gave you this ability?” His voice held a note of awe, his eyes filled with respect. “It’s… it’s

incredible.”

Kaia, standing beside him, finally let out a breath she had been holding. “Lora, you saved yourself,” she whispered, her hand coming up to touch Lora’s arm gently, her face radiant with both relief and

admiration.

Azriel, still kneeling beside Lora, pulled her closer once more, pressing his forehead to hers. “I thought I was going to lose you,” he whispered, his voice raw with the remnants of his fear. “I can’t lose you, Lora.” “You won’t,” she murmured back, her hand cupping his cheek. “The Moon Goddess has ensured it.”

But even as she spoke those words, Lora couldn’t shake the image of Alex’s twisted face from her mind, the hate, the madness. The fact that someone who had once been her mate, her destined bond, could turn into such a monster. She had been saved today, but it wasn’t lost on her how close she had come to

C losing everything if not for the Moon Goddess.

“I’m here, Azriel. I’m not going anywhere,” she reassured him, her lips brushing softly against his as he held her tightly, still trying to wrap his mind around what had just transpired.

Lora turned to Azriel, her gaze intense with curiosity. She placed her hand gently on his arm, feeling the tension in his muscles. “Azriel…” she began, her voice calm but filled with underlying concern, “what happened to Alex? Where is he?”

Azriel’s jaw tightened, and he looked away for a moment, the weight of his actions still pressing heavily on him. After a brief silence, he turned back to her, his gaze conflicted. “Lora, I…” His voice trailed off, thick with guilt. “I lost control. After he stabbed you… I couldn’t think straight. I was overwhelmed. I killed him.” His words hung in the air between them, and for a moment, the silence in the clinic was absolute. He

swallowed hard, his face tense with emotion as he continued, “I’m sorry, Lora… I didn’t mean for it to happen that way. I just -”

Before he could finish, Lara placed a firm finger over his lips, stopping him from saying more. Her expression was calm, but her eyes blazed with a fiery determination. “Azriel,” she said softly but firmly, “there’s nothing to apologize for.”

Azriel blinked, momentarily stunned by her words. He had expected anger, disappointment, or perhaps grief over the loss of Alex, but what he saw in her was something different, something stronger.

“He deserved what came his way,” Lora continued, her voice steady. “And if you hadn’t stopped him, rest assured that I would have. I’m done being the victim. Alex made his choices, and he paid the price for them.”

Markus clapped a hand on Azriel’s back, offering his best friend a grin. “Whatever it was, the Goddess saw something in you. And clearly, Lora is meant to lead by your side, stronger than ever.”

Azriel nodded, taking a deep breath as he gathered himself. His thoughts were still a whirl of emotion, but one thing was clear, Lora was not the same woman she had been before or the scared young girl he met in the forest many years ago. She was stronger, fiercer, and more determined than ever, and he couldn’t have been prouder.

As they prepared to leave the clinic and return to the royal ball, Azriel found himself smiling, knowing that together, they were unstoppable. This night, marked by both tragedy and triumph, had solidified Lora’s place not only as his mate but as Luna Storm, a name that would be remembered by all.
