Adoption-1
Dana and Tim sat quietly in the seats of the pack’s private plane, the hum of the engines a soft background to their thoughts. Tim held the small, fragile body of the little girl in his arms, still unable to fully comprehend the whirlwind of events that had brought them here. He glanced down at her, her tiny frame barely filling his embrace, her breathing shallow and soft. It was hard to believe that just a day ago, they had been living their normal lives, and now they were responsible for this child who had suffered more in her last few years than most did in a lifetime.
Tim’s mind wandered back to the moment Azriel had approached them yesterday. The memory
was still vivid. Azriel had come to them with a grave expression, his words cautious but filled with
urgency. He told them there was a pup, no, not just any pup, but a little girl who had been through a lot and just lost her mother, who now needed a loving family to take her in and protect her. Azriel asked if they would be willing to take her in, to give her the love and care she desperately needed.
Tim had always wanted pups. It was a dream that had filled his thoughts for years, but he knew that his fated mate, Dana, could never give him that. Being a vampire meant she was barren, a painful reality that had haunted her since she had been turned. It was a wound she carried silently, a shadow that lingered in the background of their happiness. But Tim had made peace with it, choosing to embrace a life without children if it meant he could stay by Dana’s side.
But now, the universe has given them this chance, a chance to be parents, to have a family of their own. When Azriel told them the full story, they were both enraged and heartbroken. The idea that anyone could try to harm a child, let alone one as vulnerable as this girl, was unimaginable.
The reality of it all hit them hard when they arrived in Montreal. Seeing her for the first time, lying so still, so fragile, was a sight that neither of them would ever forget. The girl was skin and bone, her little chest rising and falling so faintly that it seemed like a miracle she was still alive. She was so tiny, so defenseless… and those monsters were hunting her. It was unthinkable.
Tim looked over at Dana, catching her eye. The same emotions he felt were mirrored in her gaze: anger, sadness, but also a fierce determination to protect and love this child. He managed a small smile and said softly, “We’ll take good care of her. You’ll make a wonderful mother, Dana.”
Dana returned his smile, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “And you’ll make a wonderful father,” she whispered back. But her voice carried a hint of worry as she added, “I just hope she’ll
accept us.”
Tim nodded, understanding her concern. “Unfortunately for her, she has nowhere else to go. No one else to care for her. She’s ours now.”
Dana gently touched the girl’s cheek with the tips of her fingers, careful not to disturb her. “We’ll be

patient. We’ll give her all the love she needs. And one day, she’ll know that she’s safe with us, that’
she has a family.”
Tim leaned down and kissed the top of the girl’s head, his heart swelling with a mixture of protectiveness and love for the little one who had been thrust into their lives so unexpectedly.
“She is ours,” he repeated, more to himself than anyone else, as if saying the words out loud would make them truer, would solidify the bond that was already beginning to form.
The plane touched down smoothly, but the tension in the air remained thick as Dana and Tim exchanged a quick glance. They knew their journey was far from over. Tim tightened his grip on the little girl, holding her close as they prepared to disembark. Dana’s eyes were filled with concern, her mind racing with the urgency of their situation. Two days had passed since the girl had slipped into unconsciousness, and every second felt like a ticking clock counting down to a
critical moment.
