What Goes Around, Comes Around-1

Lora stood in front of Alena, her emotions a turbulent storm of anger, sadness, and a deep, aching

sense of betrayal. She could hear her sister’s taunting words, but they felt distant, as if coming from somewhere far away. Alena’s nonsensical ramblings about the Lycans’ supposed invincibility were laced with desperation. Lora knew her sister well enough to recognize the fear hidden behind

her words, but that did little to quell the rage simmering within her.

“You’re sleeping in the bed you made, Alena,” Lora said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. “Where are your mighty Lycans now, to save you?”

Alena’s response was a hollow laugh, her eyes gleaming with twisted amusement. “They don’t need to be next to me. They gave me a weapon to protect myself. No one can lay a finger on me without getting infected.” She smirked, reveling in her perceived invulnerability.

Lora couldn’t help but let out a derisive laugh of her own. “Oh, Alena, your stupidity never ceases to

amaze me.”

She could feel the red haze of anger creeping into her vision, her wolf Tara snarling just beneath the surface, eager to be unleashed. But Lora held back, keeping a tight rein on her emotions.

“I’ll give you one last chance,” Lora said, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “Confess or

die.”

Alena threw her head back and cackled, the sound grating on Lora’s nerves. “Oh, you’re so scary, sis,” she mocked, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You’re just an omega! What can you possibly

do to me?”

A slow, chilling smile spread across Lora’s face as she let Tara come closer to the surface, her eyes glowing with the power of her wolf. “And you,” Lora said, her voice laced with a dangerous edge, intertwined with Tara’s tone, “are just human.”

The words hung in the air like a death sentence. Alena’s laughter died in her throat, her face paling as realization dawned on her. “Tara?” she whispered, her voice trembling. “Is that you?”

Tara, fully in control now, bared her teeth in a snarl. “At least the goddess paired me with a deserving human and not with someone like you again. Every day was a torture, being stuck with

you.”

Alena’s expression twisted with fury, her face contorting into something ugly and hateful. “You traitor! Elora deserved to die in that river!” she screamed, her voice cracking with emotion. “How the hell did she survive? Ever since our birth, she was a thorn in my side! I hate her so much, and

she deserves to die now!”

Without warning, Alena reached into her tattered clothes and pulled out a small pouch. In one svift motion, she blew a cloud of powder in Azriel’s direction, a malicious grin spreading across her face as she watched the black veins begin to crawl up his hands and face. “Now, you’ll feel what it’s like to lose your mate,” she spat, her voice filled with venom. “Just like I lost Alex and Markus.”

Azriel staggered, the dark veins spreading rapidly across his skin. But before panic could take hold, Lora stepped forward, her movements calm and deliberate. She reached out and placed her hands on Azriel’s chest, and as she did, a soft, golden glow emanated from her palms. The light spread across Azriel’s body, chasing away the black veins and purging the infection from his system.

Alena watched in disbelief, her eyes wide with horror as the infection vanished before her eyes. No… no, that’s impossible,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “You… you’re the Goddess’s

Gift?”

Lora turned to face her sister, her expression one of cold, unyielding resolve. “I survived because I’m stronger than you’ll ever be, Alena. I’ve been blessed by the Moon Goddess, and that blessing extends to those I care about.”

Azriel, now fully recovered, stepped beside Lora, his eyes hard as he stared down Alena. “You’ve

lost, Alena. It’s over.”

Alena’s eyes darted frantically around the cell, her mind racing as she tried to comprehend what had just happened. All her carefully laid plans, all her alliances with the Lycans, all her schemes, shattered in an instant by the one person she had always underestimated.
