Traitor?-3
His words were meant to comfort her, but Kaia still felt the sting of failure. She had started to believe in her abilities, to trust that she could control them when needed. But now, when it mattered most, nothing had happened. The feeling of disappointment engulfed her, and she couldn’t shake the feeling of inadequacy. She dropped into Councilman Carter’s seat, annoyed and discouraged, wondering why her gift had suddenly failed her.
But then, as soon as her body sank into the chair, something shifted. Her fingers gripped the armrests as if on instinct, and without warning, a powerful wave of images assaulted her mind. t was overwhelming, like a flood of memories not her own, pouring into her consciousness with such intensity that she almost cried out. The surrounding room faded away, replaced by a / whirlwind of visions that left her gasping for breath.
Images flashed by in rapid succession: Councilman Carter meeting with unknown figures in darkened rooms, hushed conversations that hinted at betrayal, maps marked with false locations, and a smirk on Carter’s face as he watched others fall for his deceptions. Everything was connected, intertwined in a web of deceit that was far more dangerous than any of them had
realized.
After what felt like an eternity, the visions finally ceased, and Kaia found herself back in the council
chamber, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. Her heart raced as she tried to process what
she had just seen. She looked up, meeting the anxious gazes of Markus and Azriel, who had rushed to her side the moment they noticed something was wrong.
“Kaia?” Markus asked, his voice tight with concern. “What did
you see?”
She took a moment to steady herself, her hands trembling as she wiped her brow. “Oh Moon
Goddess… have mercy on us,” she whispered, her voice trembling with fear and urgency.
Markus’s eyes narrowed, and Azriel leaned in closer, both of them understanding the gravity of her
words. “Tell us,” Azriel urged, his tone sharp. “What did
you see?”
Kaia swallowed hard, forcing herself to speak despite the terror that still gripped her. “Carter… he’s involved in something terrible. He’s been meeting with people, plotting behind our backs. The attack on the Lycans… it’s all a trap.”
Markus’s expression darkened as he processed her words. The tension in the room grew palpable, the weight of what Kaia had uncovered pressing down on all of them. “So Carter is a traitor,” he said quietly, his voice laced with anger. “After Stone… I didn’t expect to have another traitor so soon, so close to the Crown…”
Azriel clenched his fists, his mind already racing with possibilities. “We need to act quickly. If what

Kaia saw is true, we could be walking into a disaster.”
Kaia, still shaken but determined, looked at both men with a renewed sense of purpose.
Markus placed a hand on her shoulder, his touch both comforting and reassuring. “You’ve done
more than enough, Kaia. We’ll handle the rest.”
But Kaia shook her head, her eyes filled with determination. “No, I’m with you in this. We need to
stop them, together.”
Markus and Azriel exchanged a glance, both understanding that this battle was far from over. And with Kaia’s vision guiding them, they had a chance to turn the tide in their favor.
