Burial Ceremony-1

The next hour was a whirlwind of activity as Kaia, Lora, and Tamsin worked together to devise a rough strategy. The air was thick with focus and determination as they laid out their plans, Tamsin proving to be as sharp and resourceful as Kaia had predicted. Lora observed silently, only chiming in when necessary, her admiration for both women growing with each passing minute.

Finally, Kaia leaned back in her chair and looked at Tamsin. “Are you ready?”

Tamsin smiled, a mix of nerves and excitement evident in her eyes. “As ready as I can be.”

Kaia laughed, her tension easing slightly. “Alright, then. Let’s throw you to the vultures… or wolves The joke lightened the mood, and the three women shared a brief moment of camaraderie before the reality of the task ahead settled back in.

With a deep breath, Kaia stood and walked to the door, Lora and Tamsin following closely behind. As she opened it, the sight of the lobby filled with people greeted them: some looked tired, others irritated, and a few visibly anxious. The room buzzed with murmurs, but Kaia was ready. She cleared her throat, and the room gradually fell silent, all eyes turning towards her.

“Thank you, everyone, for your patience,” Kaia began, her voice strong and clear. She had their attention, and she intended to keep it. “I know that each of you has clearly assigned roles and specific tasks that constitute a priority. However, I will not take any decision without fully understanding what it refers to, simply for the sake of clearing pending issues. I may be a new queen, but I will not be sloppy in my work.”

Her words resonated throughout the room, and Kaia could see the surprise on many faces. This was not the passive, figurehead Queen they might have expected.

“So, if you do not have a clear case or explanation for your presence here today, I ask that you return to your usual tasks,” Kaia continued, her tone firm. “I will not accept half the explanations or give approval just because that is how it was done in the past.”

She paused, letting her words sink in. The tension in the room was palpable, the murmurs now

replaced with a heavy silence.

“Now, I have an important announcement to make,” Kaia said, her voice commanding. “And I expect that after I disclose this, everyone here will ensure full compliance and acceptance.”

A few eyebrows were raised, and there were quick, furtive glances exchanged among the gathered

officials. Kaia did not waver.

“I have decided to appoint Tamsin here as my Chief of Staff.”

The announcement hit the room like a lightning strike. A wave of shock and whispers rippled through the crowd, but before the noise could swell further, Kaia’s voice cut through, sharp and

authoritative. “Silence! I am not finished.”

The room went still again, and Kaia’s eyes swept across the crowd, no longer smiling but radiating a determined and serious demeanor. “I expect everyone to respect this decision and to cooperate with her fully. If I hear that anyone is unprofessional in their approach to her or causes grievances, I will personally deal with that case. I have zero tolerance towards bullying, gossiping, and

badmouthing.”

Her words left no room for doubt. The whispers died completely, replaced by a tense, uneasy quiet. Kaia had made it clear that this was a new era, one where respect and professionalism

would be paramount.

“So, as a next step,” Kaia continued, her tone slightly less severe but still firm, “Tamsin will discuss with each of you at her own pace and present me with an overview. If it is absolutely necessary, I will meet with those who have real burning priorities, but only in exceptional circumstances. Also, for the future, everything will be filtered by her before reaching me. Thank you for your

cooperation.”

With those final words, Kaia turned on her heel and walked away along Lora, while leaving Tamsin behind. They headed towards the royal court, leaving behind a lobby full of stunned faces.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Lora let out a little laugh, her eyes gleaming with pride. “Wow, Kaia… That was just wow. You were born for this.”
