Luna Responsibilities-1
Kaia and Lora arrived at Queen Tonya’s chambers, feeling the tension in the air as they were led into a lavish tea room. Queen Tonya sat at the center of attention, surrounded by several ladies of the court. Her smile was warm, but Lora sensed the underlying currents of hostility.
Lora was taken aback to see Kaia greeting everyone with a cheerful and friendly smile, “So, this is how it is,” Lora’s wolf, Tara, whispered amusedly.
“It seems so,” Lora replied, half amused and half intrigued by Kaia’s display.
Queen Tonya introduced Lora and Kaia to the assembled ladies, each of whom seemed to view them as intruders: Lora quickly noticed the unfriendly glances of the other young women in attendance. “What is their problem?” she asked Tara in confusion.
Tara, wise as always, responded, “If my guess is right, it has to do with the fact that both you and Kaia snatched the most eligible bachelors available. Don’t expect happy faces.”
As the tea progressed, it became clear that Lora and Kaia were the objects of scrutiny from Queen Tonya and her circle. Angelika, visibly simmering with fury, took several jabs at Kaia with smart remarks. However, Kaia deflected them elegantly, maintaining a calm demeanor, which only frustrated Angelika further.
Lora wasn’t spared either. She recognized Alice Carter among the present ladies, her former rival now prouder than ever. It seemed that birds of the same feather had indeed flocked together.
Queen Tonya initiated a conversation as she put the spotlight on Lora, her tone dripping with insincere concern. “How are you finding your new role as a Luna, Lora? It must be really hard, especially for someone who had no formal Luna training at the academy, as per the tradition.”
Lora smiled tightly, keeping her composure. “Despite the lack of formal training, some things come naturally.”
The Queen’s eyes narrowed slightly, but she maintained her pleasant expression. “I see. But it still must be difficult to recover the necessary knowledge.”
Lora’s mind raced, sensing the veiled insult. She knew she had to tread carefully. “Thank you, Your Majesty. I’ve had excellent guidance from Kaia and Azriel.”
Angelika chimed in, her voice unusual, sweet. “And how is your pack adjusting to having a Luna with such… unconventional training?”
Lora met Angelika’s gaze, her eyes steely. “They’ve been incredibly supportive. Our pack values strength and adaptability over convention.”

Kaia interjected smoothly, “Lora’s strength has been a great asset to her pack, just as Markus’s
support has been invaluable to me.”
Queen Tonya’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “Indeed, strength is important. But so is tradition.”
Kaia, sensing the undercurrent, replied, “Tradition has its place, but sometimes, new ways bring about the most positive changes.”
The Queen’s entourage exchanged glances, clearly not pleased with Kaia’s response. Lora
watched the dynamics closely, noting the subtle power plays at work. It was obvious that Queen
Tonya and her court were testing their resolve.
As the conversation continued, Lora found herself under the scrutinizing gaze of Alice Carter. The
memory of past humiliations burned in her mind, but she kept her expression neutral. Alice, with her haughty demeanor, seemed to enjoy the situation.
As the conversation continued, Queen Tonya’s smile never wavered, but her eyes were sharp with
scrutiny. “I find it hard to believe that it’s easy. For certain tasks, formal preparation is necessary,” she said, her tone dripping with condescension. “Organizing events, balls, the preparation and
attention to detail are not easy, especially now that you are representing such a significant pack as
Stormheart Pack.”
Tara growled lowly in Lora’s mind, her frustration evident. “I got this,” Lora assured her wolf, maintaining her calm exterior. Turning her attention back to the Queen, she asked, “What do you mean, Your Highness? What type of tasks are you referring to?”
The Queen’s smile turned more affected. “For example, organizing events, balls. The preparation
and attention to detail are crucial for such grand events. Especially now, you are representing such
a significant pack and the standards are set very high.”
