After putting Asher to sleep and sharing a quiet family dinner, Azriel and Lora finally let the weight of the recent days’ events settle over them. They fell asleep in each other’s arms, exhausted but comforted by the warmth and security of their bond. The night seemed peaceful, but around 2 am, Lora was suddenly jolted awake, her chest tight with an inexplicable rage and a burning desire for revenge against all the injustices that had befallen her and Dana.
A red haze began to gather in her chest, spreading to her hands. Before she realized what was happening, the familiar but dark sensation snapped inside her, sending the punishing red haze spreading across the entire pack. She heard screams of agony echoing through the night, jolting her fully awake.
Horrified, Lora rushed outside, finding the pack members collapsing in the streets, their bodies
covered in black veins. Desperately, she tried to heal them, but instead of her usual warm light, the red haze emanated from her hands, killing everyone it touched. Dead bodies lay strewn
everywhere, the horror of it all overwhelming her senses.
“No, no, no,” she whispered, backing away from the chaos, her heart pounding in her chest.
She stumbled upon the bodies of James, Tim, and Dana, all succumbing to the dark veins. Her
heart stopped in her chest as she thought of her family. She sprinted to the bedroom, praying they
were unharmed. But as she entered the hallway, she was met with a sight that shattered her soul:
Azriel and their son Asher, both dead, covered in the same black veins.
“No!” she screamed, dropping to her knees in desperation. “No, please, no! Goddess, why?! Please
have mercy!”
She thrashed and screamed, consumed by unbearable pain and disbelief, until she felt her body
being shaken. Suddenly, she was awake, Azriel’s concerned face inches from hers.
“Lora, Lora, it’s just a bad dream. You’re okay, you’re safe, wake up my dove,” Azriel soothed, his
voice steady and reassuring.
She jumped away from him, still gripped by the terror of her nightmare. “Stay away from me!” she
shouted, her eyes wide with fear.
Azriel held his hands up, keeping his distance. “Lora, it’s okay. It was just a dream.”
Lora began to sob uncontrollably, relief and lingering fear mixing into a confusing torrent of
emotion. “It was just a dream… just a dream,” she repeated, trying to convince herself.
Azriel moved closer cautiously, his heart aching to see her in such distress. “You’re safe, Lora.
We’re all safe.”

She nodded slowly, tears streaming down her face. “I thought… I thought I had killed everyone. thought I had killed you and Asher. Don’t touch me!”
Azriel gently pulled her into his arms, his embrace warm and protective. “Shht … relax, you will not hurt me. We’re here, and we’re okay. It was just a nightmare.”
Lora clung to him, the horror of her dream slowly receding. She buried her face in his chest, taking
comfort in the steady beat of his heart. “I’m so scared, Azriel. What if it wasn’t just a dream? What
if I lose control again? I am a danger to you, Asher, the pack …I need answers, Azriel. We need
access to the Royal Archive.”
Azriel stroked her hair, his voice a soothing balm. “We’ll face it together, Lora. You’re stronger than
you know, and you won’t go through this alone. I will call Markus again in the morning and, if needed, we will pay him a visit.”
As the terror of the nightmare faded, Lora found strength in Azriel’s words and his unwavering
support. She took a deep breath, feeling the warmth of his love grounding her. For now, the
nightmare was over, but she knew they would have to confront her fears and the darkness that
lurked within her.
The next morning, the Stormheart Pack gathered for breakfast, the atmosphere buzzing with a
renewed sense of hope and normalcy, especially because their Alpha and Luna were back.
Laughter and smiles were abundant as everyone enjoyed their meal together. Despite the cheerful
environment, Azriel maintained the quarantine, reminding everyone that no pack was yet safe from
the lurking threat.
After breakfast, Azriel and Lora headed to his office, where they prepared for a video call with
Markus, the Werewolf King. Soon enough, Markus’s face appeared on the screen, his expression
warm and welcoming.
