As soon as Vica saw them, she began shouting accusations, her voice dripping with venom. “Murderers! You’ve come to our land and killed our people!”

Layza raised a hand to silence her. “I will be the judge of what happened here. If you are found at fault, those present in this room will face execution as per vampire law.”

Azriel stepped forward, his voice steady but firm. “This is not right. We are here on a diplomatic mission. When we extended our help to the vampire kind, there was no guarantee that the Goddess Gift would heal everyone. If you examine the deceased’s body, you will see signs of infection similar to the other victims, not foul play.”

Vica sneered, “Liars! You came here with deceitful intentions!”

Layza’s voice boomed, “Enough! I will be the judge once all the evidence is gathered.” He turned to Azriel and Lora. “Describe what happened.”

Azriel recounted the events, explaining how, while in a discussion with Stephan, he suddenly fell ill

and before anyone could do anything, he succumbed to the illness and lost his life. He could feel

Tim’s reaction, but blocked him for the moment to avoid any distractions.

Layza listened intently, his face unreadable. He then turned to Vica. “Where is the warrior Dana? I

need to hear from her as well.”

Vica’s expression twisted with disdain. “She is in the dungeon, where she deserves to be.”

Layza’s eyes narrowed. “Bring her forward for her confession.”

Tim’s anger flared, and he almost reacted, but Azriel’s voice boomed in his mind, “Tim, keep your

composure.”

After some time, a starved and exhausted Dana was brought into the room. Layza’s brows furrowed at her pitiful state. He turned to Vica, his tone cold. “Explain yourself. Why was this

warrior punished, especially as she was assigned to a task directly by me? I don’t recall releasing her from her duties to return to your coven.”

Vica’s voice was haughty. “The pets need to be disciplined.”

Layza’s gaze hardened. “This is not how we treat our warriors, especially without proof, regardless of the circumstances. Warrior Dana, tell us what happened.”

Dana’s voice was weak but clear as she described the incident from her perspective. She confirmed that Stephan succumbed to his illness while he was engaged in a discussion with Luna Lora and Alpha Aziel, and no one was able to do anything to help him as all happened so fast.

“So convenient,” Vica sneered in her direction, but she was silenced by a look from Layzal.

After Dana finished, Layza addressed the room. “We will examine the body and gather all the evidence. Until then, no further action will be taken against our guests.”

Azriel felt a surge of relief, though the tension remained high.

The vampire doctors conducted a thorough examination, and their findings confirmed that

Stephan had indeed died from the infection. There was no foul play involved. Vica, however, was not ready to accept this and tried to appeal the decision. Layzal, already irritated by being

summoned unnecessarily, silenced her with a stern rebuke.

“I don’t want to hear a word,” Layzal said, his voice filled with authority. “I can’t believe you dragged

me here when the signs were clear. You accused our allies, who have been more than generous in

supporting and aiding our kind in times of need. How dare you? Apologize to our guests.”

Vica, her face contorted with anger, had no choice but to comply. “I am sorry,” she said between

clenched teeth.

Layzal then turned to Azriel and his group. “As compensation for this disturbance, I will grant you a

favor. Name it.”

Azriel thanked Layzal and, after a brief pause, replied, “In order to forgive this offense, we would

like you to gift us one of your pets.”

Layzal lifted an eyebrow, intrigued. “Of course, it should be no issue,” he said.

Azriel turned toward Vica. “As the offense occurred here, we would like to have a pet from this

coven. We would like to get … Dana.”

Vica erupted in anger. “Never! I would rather kill her with my own hands than let her live!” With

these words, she launched herself at the shackled Dana, intent on ending her life. But Tim jumped

in front of her, striking Vica in Dana’s defense and deflecting her attack.
