“I can try,” Markus replied, his tone cautious. “But it’s a long shot. Stephan’s influence runs deep, and our chances are not good at all. And even if the Vampire King agrees and orders him to release her, Stephan is well known as being a very petty man. I am really sorry for your Delta, but prepare yourself for the worst.”
After the call ended, the room was filled with a heavy silence. Lora turned to Azriel, tears filling her
eyes. “How can we help them, my love?”
Azriel pulled her into a comforting embrace. “I have no idea, my dove. I have no idea.”
They stood there for a while, drawing strength from each other. Azriel’s mind raced with thoughts and potential strategies, but each one seemed more impossible than the last. The reality of Stephan’s power and influence was a formidable barrier.
Lora pulled back slightly to look into Azriel’s eyes. “We can’t give up on them. Tim and Dana deserve a chance at happiness. The Goddess paired them for a reason and I will not give up on
trying to help them.”
Azriel nodded, determination hardening his features. “We won’t give up. We’ll find a way,
somehow.”
Several days passed in a blur of activity and mounting tension. Lora and Azriel kept themselves busy with healing and strategizing, trying to find any loophole or ally that might help free Dana from Stephan’s control. But the news from Markus and Layzal was dire. They confirmed the initial theory that Stephan, if approached, would be unreasonable and might retaliate against Dana.
Several days passed and one afternoon, as they reviewed the updated list of infected covens and packs, Markus’s grave voice came through the communication device. “Ohe infected covens is Stephan’s,” he disclosed, his tone heavy with warning. “I advise extreme caution for Dana and Tim when traveling there.”
Lora and Azriel exchanged worried glances. They had tried to postpone this as much as possible. while having their visits, but with all other locations healed, only two remained on their list: Stephan’s coven and Lora’s former pack.
Azriel turned to Lora, his expression serious. “How do you want to proceed?”
Lora took a deep breath, her mind racing through the possible scenarios and dangers. She knew there was no easy way out of this, but avoiding the situation would only delay the inevitable. After a moment of pause, she met Azriel’s gaze with steely determination. “Let’s go see Stephan.”
The decision was made, and the mood among their group grew tense as they prepared for the

As the last patient was healed, Azriel straightened, his face etched with exhaustion. Lora wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead, her eyes meeting Azriel’s in a silent exchange of relief. They had
done what they came to do.
Stephan approached them, his expression unreadable. “I must admit,” he said grudgingly, “your
skills are impressive.”
Azriel nodded curtly. “We did what needed to be done.”
Stephan’s eyes flicked at Dana, a sinister smile playing on his lips. “Indeed. Thank you for your help
and for bringing back my pet home. I believe that her presence is not needed anymore as you have
more than enough warriors for your convoy.”
Before getting the chance to reply, Stephan turned to Dana with a dangerous glint in his face,”
Return to your usual duties, pet; I am expecting your full service tonight.”
