Common Threat-1
Markus spent the entire night making love to Kaia, their passion consuming them over and over again. Their connection was intense, the bond between them strengthening with every touch, every kiss, every whispered word of love. They moved together as one, lost in the bliss of their union. Kaia’s moans and gasps of pleasure echoed through the night, their bodies entwined in a dance of raw desire.
As the night turned into early morning, exhaustion finally took over, and they drifted into a deep, but brief, sleep. Markus had barely closed his eyes for three hours when his phone rang, the harsh sound cutting through the quiet room. Groggily, he reached for it, seeing his beta Atlas’s name on
the screen.
“Yes, Atlas,” Markus answered, his voice rough with sleep. “It had better be a damn good reason to
call me at this hour.”
“Markus,” Atlas replied, his voice grim. “We’ve been contacted by the vampires. They want to
discuss.”
“What the hell do the bloodsuckers want?” Markus growled, his irritation clear.
“I’m not sure, but they’re refusing to leave the borders until they have a one-on-one meeting with you personally,” Atlas explained.
Markus cursed under his breath, annoyed. The pandemic was already a disaster, and now the vampires were adding to the mess. Damn proud and cunning, the leeches always had a hidden
agenda.
“Who’s asking for the talk?” Markus inquired, dreading the answer.
“To my shock, it’s Layzal, the vampire prince himself,” Atlas said.
“What?” Markus exclaimed, sitting up in bed. Layzal was the Crown Prince and the only heir of King Ozul, the Vampire King. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Markus knew this wasn’t a trivial matter. The prince was known for his special abilities, and if he wanted, he could have breached the borders easily. The fact that they were still at the border was a courtesy gesture, meaning they had an agenda.
“Tell him I’ll meet him in five hours from now,” Markus ordered before hanging up the phone.
Turning back to bed, Markus saw that Kaia was awake, her eyes filled with concern. “Is everything okay?” she asked, her voice soft and worried.
His first instinct was to shield her from the truth, but he realized he had promised to always be

honest with her. “We’ve been contacted by the vampires. Prince Layzal himself wants a meeting,” he said, his tone serious. “They want to meet.”
Kaia’s eyes widened. “What?! Are you serious? Is it safe to meet Layzal?”
Markus lifted his shoulders in a weary shrug. “Honestly, now I am not sure of anything. Let’s see how it goes,” he replied, trying to reassure her.
Kaia bit her lip, clearly worried. “I don’t like this, Markus. The vampires are not to be trusted.”
“I know,” Markus said, cupping her face in his hands. “But we don’t have a choice. I have to find out
what they want. It could be important.”
Kaia nodded, though her eyes still held a trace of fear. “Just be careful,” she whispered.
“I will,” Markus promised, kissing her softly. “Try to get some rest. We’ll need all the strength we
can get.”
Kaia sat up in bed, determination in her eyes. “I’m coming with you,” she announced firmly.
Markus immediately shook his head. “No, it’s too dangerous.”
But Kaia was insistent. “Something inside me tells me I need to be there. I can’t explain it, but it’s a
feeling I can’t overlook.”
Markus took a deep breath, considering her words. “Okay,” he finally agreed, though his voice held
a note of uncertainty. “But only on the condition that you do whatever I ask you. Deal?”
“Deal,” Kaia replied, her face lighting up with excitement. She jumped out of bed and rushed toward the bathroom to get ready.
Markus shook his head, a mixture of amusement and worry on his face. He knew that what he was
doing was insane, for all he knew, it could be a trap, but at the same time he could not let her
behind. His instincts were telling him as well that the best thing was to have her next to him, under
his eyes. As he watched her go, he pulled out his phone and called Azriel.
