Heartbreak-2

Markus stepped closer, desperation in his eyes. “Kaia, you are more than fit. You’re the only one I want.”

Kaia shook her head, tears welling up. “I can’t, Markus, and you know it. I just can’t. It’s too much. I developed feelings for you, but this is not enough. I am too damaged; Markus and you know it. would not survive even the first day of the competition. Damn it, I would not pass even the pre-screening to be qualified to compete! I need to go back to my pack. I need to find my own way.”

The attendant cleared his throat softly, reminding them of his presence. Markus looked at Kaia, His eyes pleading. “Pre-screening? What on earth are you talking about? Please, don’t leave like this.

Give me a chance to fix this.”

Kaia felt her resolve wavering but held firm. “You want to tell me that you have no idea that

rigorous testing will be involved as pre-screening to eliminate the unsuitable candidates.

Everything will be evaluated, even the fertility and the purity of your future mate! And you know

about me! You know what happened to me! I’m sorry, Markus. I need to leave. I hope you will

succeed in finding a suitable match.”

Markus’ head was spinning in rage and desperation: What pre-selection?! What checks?! What the

fuck was going on? As he watched helplessly as she nodded to the attendant and stepped past him. The attendant took her bag and led the way. Kaia walked down the hallway not looking back

even one single time, as her heart was breaking with each step, knowing that this decision was the

hardest but the right one.

Kaia made her way towards the helicopter, her steps heavy with the weight of her decision. As she

approached, she was surprised to find Tim, Azriel’s Delta, waiting for her inside. He smiled warmly

and helped her onto the seat.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, her voice tinged with surprise.

Tim chuckled softly. “Did you really think Azriel would let you travel by yourself?”

Kaia nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude for the familiar presence. Once they were taken off, she let the tears flow freely down her cheeks, the emotional strain finally breaking through her

composure. Tim noticed and looked at her, conflicted.

“Are you okay?” he asked gently.

Kaia nodded, wiping her tears. “I will be, eventually.”

As they ascended, Kaia glanced out the window and saw Markus running towards the helipad, his

eyes fixed on the helicopter. The desperation etched on his face broke her heart. She knew that

leaving was the right decision, but it didn’t make it any easier.

“Even if we already fell in love with him?” Sierra asked, her voice echoing Kaia’s own heartbreak.

“Especially when we already fell in love with him,” Kaia replied sadly, her voice barely a whisper.

She turned away from the window, unable to bear the sight of Markus’s figure growing smaller as

they flew further away. The tears continued to flow, each one a painful reminder of the love she was leaving behind. She finally opened her heart after all these years, and she fell fast and hard.

Markus stood in disbelief as the helicopter lifted off, carrying Kaia away from him. His heart

pounded furiously in his chest, and the rage within him began to boil over. Stinger, his wolf, was

raging inside him, showing its feral side. Markus’s aura became uncontrollable, his hands shaking

with anger as his claws elongated and shifted into his beast. He let out a frightening roar, a sound

that echoed through the surrounding forest.

Unable to contain his fury, Markus dashed into the forest, giving full control to Stinger. They ran at a fast pace, the trees blurring past them until they reached the top of a mountain cliff. Markus slowed down, his breath ragged, and looked out over the landscape with a mixture of hurt and

disbelief.

“What the hell happened? I can’t believe she just left without fighting for us,” Markus said, his voice trembling with emotion.

“I don’t believe she doesn’t care,” Stinger replied, his voice echoing in Markus’s mind. “I could feel

Sierra’s heartbreak. But not telling her about the Royal Courtship must have taken her unprepared.

And what the hell about the pre-selection test? Testing her fertility? Her purity? What the hell?!”

“Do you think? I would have never allowed for her to be humiliated like this, especially considering her

past,” Markus replied, enraged. “Screw the tradition. This damn archaic mess pushed away the only woman who caught our eye, the one we imprinted on. To hell with them. I’ll be damned if I allow this to carry on like this.”

“What can we do now?” Stinger asked, equally annoyed and filled with rage.

“What we always do, we fix the problem,” Markus replied, his voice resolute. “In the end, don’t forget that we are the fucking werewolf kings. Let’s head back and see what the fuck is going on! But if my suspicions are right, it seems that my mother and the Council took too many liberties in the last period.”

With that, Stinger started to run back towards the castle, his determination and fury driving him forward. His mind raced with thoughts of how to set things right. The traditions and protocols that had once governed his life now seemed like chains holding him back from what truly mattered. He

would not let them take Kaia away from him. He would fight for her, for their future together, and he would not rest until she was back by his side.

She could go for now, but not for too long. He had already decided that she was his and if she believed that her little escape would work, she was up for a big surprise.
