Hidden Schemes-2

Plus that Tonya had never liked the Storm family. They were too proud, too powerful for her taste.

Their influence over a significant portion of the packs was unsettling, and their wealth was also

concerning. If the Storms continued to grow in power, they could potentially rival the royal line itself. This prospect had always worried Tonya, but her husband, Anton, had dismissed her

concerns, insisting that the Storms were vital allies.

To Tonya’s dismay, her son had grown close to Azriel Storm, the heir to the Storm bloodline. This bond had made it even harder for her to influence Markus. He was no longer a boy she could

control; he was a man with his own mind and leadership, and Tonya felt her influence slipping

away.

And now, Kaia Storm was daring to charm her son. The thought made Tonya’s blood boil. This girl

broken and scarred, a reject of a no-name alpha, had the audacity to capture Markus’s attention,

inside the Royal castle! It was unacceptable.

During the years, Tonya had presented Markus with the best choices, her absolute favorite being Angelica. Angelica was everything Tonya believed Markus needed in a mate: pure-blooded from alpha bloodlines, an impeccable reputation, flawless beauty, coming from a powerful family and

obedient to Tonya’s commands.

Angelica was the perfect candidate to help Markus reign with absolute power over their species. But Kaia Storm? Tonya couldn’t bear the thought. This union would only happen over her dead

body.

In the dim light of the bedroom, Tonya’s mind raced with plans. She needed to act swiftly and

decisively. Her first step would be to ensure that Kaia was kept as far away from Markus as

possible. She would leverage every ounce of her influence, every connection, and every ounce of cunning to ensure that this girl was removed from Markus’s life.

Ricky would continue to be her eyes and ears within the castle, providing her with valuable information. Tonya would orchestrate situations to discredit Kaia, to make her appear unworthy of Markus’s attention. She would manipulate council members, sway opinions, and if necessary, use force to ensure that Kaia Storm was seen as an unsuitable mate for the King. And the Royal Courtship was the perfect set-up for her to achieve her plans.

As Tonya lay there, her smile widened. She was confident in her ability to protect her family’s legacy and ensure that Markus made the right choice. Kaia Storm would not become queen. Not

now, not ever.

Tonya’s resolve was steely as she drifted off to sleep, already planning her next moves. The Storm

family had been a thorn in her side for too long, but she was determined to uproot it once and for

all.

Meanwhile, Markus was unaware of the brewing storm of tradition and protocol that his parents were preparing to thrust upon him. As he made his way back to his duties inside his private study, his thoughts were consumed with Kaia.

Documents from the council, reports from various packs, and strategic plans for the future of their realm all demanded his attention. Yet, no matter how hard he tried, his mind kept drifting back to the garden, to Kaia, and to the kiss that had left him breathless.

It was a brief kiss, a mere brush of their lips, but it had set his entire being on fire. The softness of her lips, the warmth of her breath, the spark that had ignited between them, all of it drove him mad with desire and hope. He could still feel the delicate press of her mouth against his, as if it were imprinted on his very soul.

Markus leaned back in his chair, his eyes unfocused as he replayed the moment over and over again in his mind. He remembered how Kaia had looked at him, her eyes wide with a mix of surprise and something else, something that had sent a thrill through him. Her vulnerability, her strength, the way she had slowly begun to open up to him, it all made him yearn for her in a way he had never experienced before.

Stinger, his wolf, was equally affected. Markus could feel his beast prowling just beneath the surface, restless and eager to be near Kaia again. Stinger had accepted her, imprinted on her, and now every fiber of Markus’s being was attuned to her presence. He knew that Stinger’s feelings

mirrored his own, a potent combination of protectiveness and longing.

“She’s everything we need,” Stinger’s voice echoed in his mind. “Strong, resilient, beautiful. She

belongs with us.”

Markus couldn’t deny it. The thought of Kaia as his queen filled him with a fierce determination. He

wanted to be the one to heal her wounds, to show her that she was not broken but whole and

perfect as she was. He wanted to share his life with her, to face the future together, side by side.

Little did he know that the path to securing his future with her was about to become far more

complex and demanding than he could have ever imagined.
