A Night to Remember-1

After Markus’s departure, Kaia remained in bed, a daze of emotions washing over her. She couldn’t believe the turn her life had taken in just a few hours. The reality of her healed scars, Markus’s tender care, and the prospect of dinner with him left her reeling. She was pulled from her reverie when a nurse brought her a tray with a light snack. Despite her lingering self-consciousness, she managed to eat, fighting the urge to cover her face as the nurse hovered nearby.

The food helped settle her nerves, and afterward, she decided to take a bath. The warm water was soothing, helping to wash away some of her anxiety. When she returned to her room, she was surprised to find several gift bags laid out on the bed. Confused, she looked at the bags, wondering who could have sent them.

Just then, an older nurse entered the room. Seeing Kaia’s puzzled expression, she smiled warmly. Lady Kaia, these are from His Highness. I just wanted to ask you if you need any help?”

Kaia’s eyes widened. “From Markus? I am OK, thank you,” she replied, her voice barely a whisper.

The nurse nodded and left, closing the door behind her. Kaia approached the bed and gingerly opened the bags. Inside, she found several articles of clothing. Her fingers trailed over the fabrics until she came across the main piece: a beautiful sage dress with a long, flowing skirt and long sleeves. Relief washed over her at the sight of the conservative yet elegant dress. Despite her newly healed scars, she wasn’t ready to expose her skin. The faint lines still visible made her uneasy. Plus, she hated people staring at her, and she knew that once the news of her being in public would appear, she would become the new hot gossip topic.

As she continued to explore the bags, she searched for a head cover but found none. Instead, she discovered a cosmetic bag filled with various products, including powder and foundation. Kaia realized this was Markus’s subtle push for her to stop hiding her face. From within, Sierra, her wolf,

offered encouragement.

“Give it a try, Kaia. We have nothing to lose. We both hid for so long. It is time to take control over ❘our lives.”

Taking a deep breath, Kaia decided to trust Markus’s intentions. She took out the dress and laid it on the bed, admiring its delicate beauty. Then she opened the cosmetic bag and examined the products. It had been so long since she had cared about her appearance, and the thought of

applying makeup was both daunting and exciting.

With Sierra’s encouragement, she began to get ready. She put on the dress, marveling at how perfectly it fit. It was as if Markus had known exactly what would make her feel comfortable. She

then started to apply the makeup. Her hands trembled slightly, but she took her time, carefully

covering the faint lines on her face with the foundation and powder. As she worked, she found herself gaining confidence, each stroke of the brush reinforcing the feeling that she was

reclaiming a part of herself.

With the rest of the products, she decided only on a simple gloss, ignoring all the other products for now. It was already a big step; the rest, … maybe some other time.

When she was done, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. It was almost as if she was seeing a new person. The scars that had once defined her were now hidden, and for the first time in a long

time, she felt a glimmer of self-acceptance.

“See?” Sierra said softly. “We are stronger than we think.”

Kaia nodded, tears of relief welling up in her eyes. She felt a mix of emotions: anticipation of the dinner with Markus, gratitude for his kindness, and a renewed sense of hope for the future. She wasn’t sure what the evening would bring, but she was determined to face it head-on, no longer hiding from the world.

As the minutes passed, Kaia found herself growing more and more anxious about the dinner. She paced her room, rehearsing what she might say to Markus, worrying about how she looked, and hoping that she wouldn’t embarrass herself. But through it all, Sierra remained a steady presence, offering reassurance and strength.
