Finally Awake-2
“Kaja, what’s the matter?”
She barely managed to choke out, “They all saw me. You saw me without my face covered.”
For a second, Markus was puzzled. Then he remembered her habit of hiding her face because of the scars on her body. Understanding dawned on him, and he quickly ordered everyone to leave the room. “Everyone, out. Now.”
The medical staff filed out quickly, leaving them alone. Markus turned back to Kaia/ “You have your privacy now. It’s just me here.”
She trembled beneath the bedsheet, her voice a mere whisper. “But you’re here too.”
He reached out, gently pulling the sheet down just enough to see her eyes. “Kaia, don’t worry. I’ve seen you without your face cover before.”
Her eyes widened in horror, and she started to hyperventilate. “I’m a monster. I’m damaged goods!” Her voice became hysterical as she sobbed uncontrollably, clearly at a loss for what to do.
Markus felt a pang of sorrow but knew he had to act quickly. He hated doing this, but he had no choice. He released his Alpha aura, letting it wash over her in a calm but authoritative manner. “Kaia, stop fighting and panicking.”
The power in his voice made her pause, her sobs slowing as she felt the weight of his command. She looked up at him with tear-filled eyes, still trembling but no longer hysterical.
“Listen to me,” Markus said softly, “Your sister-in-law, Lora, is a healer wolf. After you were saved from the waterfall, they tried to heal you.”
Kaia’s eyes widened in shock. “Heal? What do you mean?”
Markus nodded, his expression earnest. “Yes, Kaia. In large part, they succeeded.”
She stared at him in disbelief, her breath catching in her throat. “I don’t understand. I still have the scars. How could they have succeeded?”
Markus took a deep breath, his voice kind and reassuring. “Kaia, your physical scars are almost completely gone. There might be a few faint lines left, but they can be easily covered with some cosmetics”
Kaia’s eyes widened in shock as she lifted her hand to her face, her fingers trembling. She touched her cheek, expecting to feel the familiar rough, damaged skin. Instead, her fingertips met smooth, unblemished skin. Her hands started to tremble more violently.

Finally Awake-2
“Do you want to see yourself?” Markus asked gently.

Without warning, Markus slipped his hands under her light body and lifted her. She let out a small
scream of surprise and buried her face in his chest, her heart pounding.
“Don’t be scared,” Markus murmured as he carried her into the en-suite bathroom. He stopped in
front of the sink mirror, holding her securely. “Look at yourself, Kaia.”
She shook her head, refusing to lift her eyes.
“Kaia, listen to me,” Markus insisted. “Please, look in the mirror. Remember, I’ve already seen you.”
After a few moments of tense silence, he felt her move slowly. The bedsheet slipped down slowly
from her head, revealing her face. She reluctantly looked up and gasped at her reflection. The
horrible cuts and disfigurements that had once crossed her face were now replaced by smooth
skin, with only a few faint, discolored lines remaining.
Kaia touched her cheek again in disbelief, her eyes filling with tears. Her gaze met Markus’s
electric blue eyes in the mirror, and she saw the sincerity and compassion in his expression.
“They’re almost gone,” she said in a trembling voice, tears streaming down her face.
Markus nodded; his own eyes misty with emotion. “Yes, they are. You are beautiful, Kaia. Inside
and out.”
At the same time, Kaia could feel a presence inside her, and she realized in awe that it was her
wolf, Sierra, who was present as well.
“Sierra, …our scars…are gone,” she whispered to her wolf.
Sierra felt Kaia’s emotional pressure and tried to be stable there for her, “Yes, Kaia. You deserve all
the happiness in the world, and this is the first step. You don’t need to hide anymore.”
Suddenly, Kaia felt dizzy and overwhelmed, the reality of everything crashing down on her all at
once. Markus noticed her swaying, and immediately he carried her gently to the bed. He laid her
down slowly, his touch tender and caring.
“Take it slow and rest,” Markus said softly, his concern evident. “You’ve been out for more than a
month.”
Kaia’s eyes widened in surprise. “A month? Azriel…” she whispered.
“Don’t worry about your brother, I will give him a call to let him know that you are awake, so expect him to storm out here tomorrow.” Markus replied.
She looked around and realized that she was not familiar with the environment, but before she
could say something, he added, “No worries, you are at the Royal Hospital. You are safe here. If

you need anything, just let the nurses know and they will get it for you. But for now, you Miss need
rest.”
Just then, Markus received a mind link from one of his advisors, reminding him of his royal duties. He sighed, realizing he needed to return to his responsibilities. He looked back at Kaia, his expression softening.
“Unfortunately, I need to go for the moment, duty calls,” he reiterated, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. “Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”
Kaia hesitated, frozen, her heart trembling with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Before she could respond, Markus winked at her playfully.
“07.00 PM is perfect,” he declared with a confident smile. “I’ll see you then.” Leaning down, hé kissed her forehead tenderly before leaving the room.
Kaia lay there, stunned and breathless, her fingers trembling as they touched the spot on her forehead where his lips had been. She felt a rush of shock, excitement, nervousness, all swirling
together.
Her wolf, Sierra, chimed in with a teasing tone, “It seems that we just got ourselves a date.”
