Surprise Shifting-2

“I was so worried about you,” Azriel whispered, his voice filled with emotion. “You were

unconscious for two days.”

Lora gasped in shock. “Two days? Asher!”

Azriel calmed her down, gently stroking her hair. “Asher is okay. I told him that you were just

resting.”

Lora sighed in relief and looked at him with gratitude. “Thank you, Azriel.”

He smiled softly. “You don’t need to thank me. He’s my son too.”

He leaned in and kissed her tenderly, pouring all his love and relief into that kiss. As they pulled away, he asked, “But you gave me a serious scare with your absence. Do you have any idea what happened? How were you able to shift?”

Lora’s expression grew distant as she searched her memories. After a moment, she nodded. “I think I understand now,” she began slowly. “During the marking ceremony, I felt an overwhelming surge of energy. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I think it triggered something deep

within me.”

Azriel listened intently, his eyes locked on hers. “Go on,” he encouraged gently.

Lora took a deep breath. “When I was unconscious, I had a dream, but it felt so real. I saw the Moon Goddess. She told me that the bond we share, the true mate bond and my actions made me worthy of a second chance and a second wolf. She said it was a gift, a blessing that would make

me stronger.”

Azriel’s eyes widened in amazement. “The Moon Goddess?”

Lora nodded. “Yes. She told me that our bond is special, and that my transformation is a reflection. of that. She also said that I needed to be strong for what lies ahead.”

“What do you mean?” Azriel asked with his eyebrows frowning with concern.

Lora settled deeper into Azriel’s embrace, taking a moment to gather her thoughts. Her eyes, filled with a mixture of wonder and sorrow, met his.

“Azriel,” she began softly, “the Moon Goddess revealed something to me. She told me that I was born with the Goddess’s Gift of healing, and my twin sister, Alena, was blessed with a white wolf. Together, we were fated to be a beacon of hope for the werewolf kind in its darkest moments.”

Azriel’s brow furrowed as he listened intently, his heart pounding with the weight of Lora’s words.

“The Goddess said that, unfortunately, Alena ignored her wolf and its guidance completely, choosing a despicable road,” Lora continued. “She chose immediate gratification and her own personal desires over the greater good and over her own sister. What Alena didn’t realize was that her white wolf’s powers and potential could only be unlocked with a fated mate, not a chosen one.”

Azriel’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you saying that Alena’s decisions altered both of your destinies?”

Lora nodded solemnly. “Yes. We were supposed to work together to conquer the darkness ahead. But because of Alena’s choices, our destinies were altered. The Moon Goddess decided that Alena was no longer worthy of her white wolf and that, despite giving her multiple chances to mend her ways, she ignored it, so the Goddess took back her gift, leaving Alena wolfless.”

Azriel was stunned. “The Moon Goddess took away her wolf?”

“Yes,” Lora confirmed. “And what’s more, the Goddess gave me a new wolf-Tara. She is Alena’s

former wolf.”

Azriel felt as if the ground had shifted beneath him. He looked at Lora, his shock evident. “You

mean… your new wolf is Alena’s white wolf?”

Lora nodded again. “Yes, Tara has chosen to stay with me. The Goddess said that Tara’s potential

could still be realized through me only, and together we could fulfill the destiny that was meant for

both Alena and me.”

Azriel sat in stunned silence, trying to process everything Lora had told him. The enormity of the

situation was almost too much to comprehend. “This is… unbelievable,” he finally said. “But it

explains so much. It explains why you were able to shift, why your wolf is so powerful.”

Lora smiled softly. “Yes, it does. I feel sad for not getting a second chance for my first wolf, Lina, but the Goddess assured me that Lina returned to her and that she was not in pain anymore. So, now I am grateful for Tara.”

Azriel hugged her tightly, feeling a mix of awe, relief, and determination. He could feel his wolf Thunder, who was curious to meet his mate. Azriel tried to push him back, but Thunder was

unhinged. Lora could feel Azriel restless and when she looked at him, she saw how his eyes were

shifting between his and his wolf’s.

Before getting the chance to ask him if all was OK, her new wolf Tara purred in her mind, “Thunder wants to play with me, and I want to play with him. I believe it is time to mark our mate. What do

you say?”
