Back at the Stormheart Pack, Azriel was deeply worried. His sister, Kaia, remained in a coma with

no signs of waking up, and his mate, Lora, had been in a deep sleep for two days since their marking ceremony. Although he could feel her presence through the mate bond, she showed no signs of regaining consciousness. Mary and Doctor Luigi had connected Lora to IVs to keep her hydrated and fed, but the situation left Azriel restless and on edge.

He tried to keep their son, Asher, entertained and distracted, telling him that his mommy was just sleeping. However, it was not easy, especially as he himself had no idea what was happening. He sought advice from the pack’s elders, but they were equally puzzled.

Azriel slept next to Lora for the past two nights, holding her in his arms and kissing her tenderly on the forehead, whispering for her to wake up and return to him and Asher. With these thoughts, he eventually fell asleep. However, on the third night around midnight, he was abruptly awakened by a searing heat emanating from Lora. She began to convulse violently. Through the mate bond, he could feel her anguish and pain, and he panicked.

Quickly, he mind-linked Doctor Luigi and Mary. They rushed to their side, and after a brief consultation, Doctor Luigi said, “If I didn’t know better, I’d believe she was shifting. The symptoms are similar to the young wolves who are shifting for the first time.”

Azriel looked at him in shock. “Shifting? But how is that possible? She is only human as she lost her

wolf.”

Mary, already springing into action, replied urgently and in shock, “Take her outside now. I don’t know how, but she is shifting!”

Panic gripped Azriel as he carefully but swiftly carried Lora outside, followed closely by Mary and Doctor Luigi. The night air was cool, a stark contrast to Lora’s burning skin. Azriel gently laid her down on the soft grass.

As soon as she was on the ground, her convulsions intensified. Azriel held her hand, his heart breaking at her cries of pain. He could see the change beginning, her bones cracking and reshaping, her skin rippling as fur began to sprout. Lora was indeed shifting, but it was unlike any shift Azriel had ever seen, as her body was emanating a soft yellow glow which left them in shock.

Mary and Doctor Luigi watched in astonishment and concern. “What’s happening to her?” Azriel asked, desperation in his voice.

Doctor Luigi shook his head. “I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s as if her body is trying to adjust to something completely new. I never saw wolves glowing!”

After what felt like an eternity, the convulsions slowed, and Lora’s transformation was completed. Before them lay a magnificent white wolf, her fur shimmering under the moonlight. Azriel knelt beside her, tears of relief and awe streaming down his face. He approached her carefully and after a few moments, once she took his scent, he stroked her fur, feeling the powerful connection through their bond.

Lora’s wolf form looked up at him with familiar, loving eyes, but there was an unmistakable strength and purity in her gaze. She nuzzled him gently, conveying her love and reassurance.

Mary and Doctor Luigi exchanged bewildered glances. “This is unprecedented as her previous wolf

was an omega. How is this possible?” Mary whispered. “But she’s beautiful.”

Azriel nodded, unable to tear his eyes away from Lora. “She’s stronger than ever. I have no idea how it happened, but it is a miracle from the Goddess herself,” he murmured, feeling a renewed sense of hope and determination.

After a few more moments, Lora shifted back to her human form, exhausted but awake. Azriel

wrapped her in his shirt and held her close, his heart swelling with gratitude and love.

“Lora, my dove, you’re back,” he whispered.

She nodded weakly, smiling up at him. “I’m back, Azriel.”

Azriel thanked Mary and Doctor Luigi sincerely, who in turn congratulated Lora on her

transformation. With gratitude and relief, Azriel then scooped Lora into his arms and carried her

back to their bedroom. Once inside, he gently placed her on their bed and climbed in beside her,

holding her close.
