Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 466

But Phoenix merely stood before the mirror, casually adjusting the collar of the trench coat, her eyes reflecting nothing but genuine appreciation for the garment.

That level of relaxation and ease made it seem as though everything she had said was the absolute truth, shattering Jade's arrogance piece by piece.

"I'm telling you, I won't fall for it." Jade gritted her teeth, her face twisting defensively. "When your little subordinates can't handle the torture anymore and jump ship to work for us, you'll be crushed by your own people!"

Phoenix let out a soft sigh, her long legs stepping forward as she closed the distance to Jade.

She reached out, seemingly resting her hand casually on Jade's shoulder, and leaned in close to whisper in her ear, "You really are annoying. With your pitiful IQ, you aren't even qualified to be my enemy. But of course, if you insist on playing the clown, I'm happy to watch the show."

"You!"

Jade's eyes widened in fury, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Conversely, Phoenix remained a picture of breezy indifference, a faint, mocking smile playing at the corners of her lips.

Something was wrong. Something was very wrong!

This woman was far too calm. The composure radiating from her bones made her look like a winner holding all the cards.

Had she actually found them? And her father hadn't noticed at all?

"What a buzzkill." Phoenix retracted her hand with obvious disgust and turned to leave. "I was planning to enjoy some shopping, but now the mood is ruined."

The moment she stepped out of the boutique, several men in black suits seamlessly surrounded her, taking up defensive positions at her back.

Seeing that level of security, Jade's confidence plummeted. Phoenix was just too relaxed. Even if she was faking it, the performance was completely bulletproof.

No, she had to call her dad and make sure.

Panicked, Jade grabbed her phone and dialed Duncan's number.

"Dad, I just ran into Phoenix. Judging by her reaction... it looks like she already found them."

"Absolutely impossible!" Duncan's voice on the other end was ironclad. "The location I picked is a ghost zone. Even if Phoenix turns Highcrest inside out, she'd never catch a whiff of it."

"Dad, I'm still worried. You need to go check on it right now!" Jade frowned deeply, stomping her foot in anxiety. "I know Vivian is your secret mistress, but who can guarantee she hasn't flipped and sold out the location?"

Hearing his daughter's logic, Duncan's rock-solid confidence wavered.

Thinking back, Phoenix's people had been unnaturally quiet today. Could they have actually been exposed?

"Alright, I'll contact the guards right now." Duncan hung up and immediately dialed the men watching the basement.

"How are the targets?"

"Don't worry, Boss. Still breathing."

Hearing that confirmation, the tension bled out of Duncan's shoulders. "Good. Keep your eyes open. If they end up dead or permanently disabled, you're going into the ground with them!"

Knowing Lewis and Quinn were still under his thumb, Duncan shook his head, mocking himself.

He really had let Phoenix turn him into a paranoid mess.

Phoenix might be ruthless, but he wasn't exactly an amateur.
