Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 309

“Please, everyone, remain calm.” Warren tapped the table, letting out a heavy sigh. “The Langley Group did threaten to cancel the contract, but after some intense negotiations, we managed to save the partnership.”

Hearing this, a collective sigh of relief swept through the boardroom.

“Warren, who exactly offended Mr. Langley in the first place, and who managed to save the deal?”

“It was Julian,” Phoenix interjected abruptly, cutting Warren off.

Warren frowned, shooting Phoenix a highly displeased look, but he kept his mouth shut.

Phoenix turned her gaze to Julian. “To save the deal, he went to apologize in person multiple times. To get back in Mr. Langley's good graces, he even drank himself into a hospital bed with a bleeding ulcer.”

Julian's pupils contracted as he stared at Phoenix in sheer shock. She really did care about him—otherwise, why would she speak up for him in front of the entire board?

“Thanks to his sheer persistence, Mr. Langley finally changed his mind and agreed to maintain the partnership with the Prescott Group.”

“Mr. Julian, thank you for your hard work.”

“Seriously, Mr. Langley is notoriously difficult. Securing that renewal couldn't have been easy.”

Though the executives were initially angry that Julian had offended Mr. Langley, the outcome was positive, so they let it go.

They began offering him polite, corporate praise.

“Actually...” Julian started to speak, but Warren sharply cut him off.

“Actually, Julian did put in a lot of effort. Even though he angered Mr. Langley and nearly cost us the contract, saving it balances out his mistake.”

Warren wore a practiced smile, but his tone took a sharp turn. “Therefore, I am assigning the Langley Group project entirely to Barrett Lowery.”

“!!!”

Julian froze at the announcement, staring at Warren in total disbelief.

The rest of the executives were equally bewildered.

“Warren, what are you talking about? Julian saved the deal, shouldn't he be the one running it?”

“And who the hell is Barrett Lowery?”

Warren's lips curled into a smirk. He raised his voice. “Barrett, come in.”

The boardroom doors swung open.

Barrett Lowery was slowly pushed into the room in a wheelchair.

The executives immediately recognized him—he was the crippled heir from the Lowery family.

“This is absolute nonsense! Pure madness!”

Ethan shot out of his seat, slamming his hand on the table as he furiously pointed at Warren. “Warren, what the hell are you doing?! Barrett is from the Lowery family! You're handing a crucial project to a complete outsider? Are you trying to destroy the Prescott Group?!”

“Calm down, Ethan,” Warren replied with a smug, condescending sneer. “Barrett is my son-in-law now. Is there a problem with me hiring him into our company?”

“I know what you're thinking. Why should a cripple have a seat at this table?”
