Tiffany Taylor's eyes were bloodshot as she threw her arms around Seraphina, her voice cracking with sobs.

"You scared me half to death! I was so terrified..."

Tiffany gently pushed back to inspect her friend.

Seraphina had been given a set of clean, comfortable clothes by the nurses, but the vicious scrapes and dark bruises covering her skin were impossible to hide.

"Thank God you're safe. If something had happened... I would've never forgiven myself."

Fresh tears streamed down Tiffany's cheeks as she spoke.

Seraphina wiped the tears away with a gentle thumb. "Don't cry. I'm standing right here, aren't I?"

"Does your hand hurt? It's completely black and blue," Tiffany choked out, staring at her battered skin.

Seraphina reflexively pulled her hand back, hiding it behind her. "It's fine. Just a few scrapes."

Seraphina peered over Tiffany's shoulder. "Where's Little Bean? Where is he?"

After being away from her baby for days, the ache to hold him was driving her insane.

"They're bringing him up now." Tiffany let out a watery laugh, recalling the baby's recent drama. "Your son is a piece of work. He refused to poop the entire time you were gone."

"The second he heard you were found, it was like he understood. He finally let it out... and after holding it for days, well, you can imagine the smell."

Seraphina blinked, her lips twitching in amusement.
