My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 439

"The woods are crawling with wild beasts at night. Don't go wandering off," Zeke stated abruptly.

Seraphina forced a tight smile. "Don't worry, Zeke. I won't."

She understood the hidden warning perfectly.

There were no wild beasts. He was explicitly telling her not to even think about escaping, because she'd never make it out of these mountains alive.

Zeke didn't add anything else. He simply stepped aside, clearing the doorway.

Clutching the vial of antibiotics, Seraphina walked briskly out into the courtyard.

Just as she crossed the threshold, Mina's voice drifted from behind. "Zeke, you actually trust that bitch?"

Seraphina didn't turn around, but her footsteps naturally slowed for a fraction of a second.

Zeke murmured a reply, his voice too low for her to catch.

Immediately after, Mina let out a breathy, prolonged moan.

That was quickly followed by the rhythmic creak of furniture and heavy, heated pants echoing from the main room.

Seraphina's ears burned hotly as she sprinted toward The Wood Shed.

These people were completely twisted.

The broken door to The Wood Shed was slightly ajar. As she pushed it open, she instinctively softened her movements. "Lucian, it's me."

Dead silence.

Seraphina's stomach dropped. Relying on the faint moonlight spilling through the shattered window, her eyes finally adjusted to the darkness inside.

Lucian was slumped in the far corner, curled in on himself, violent shivers wracking his large frame.

His face, already pale from blood loss, was now flushed with a dangerous, burning red fever. A sheen of cold sweat coated his forehead.

And on his left cheek, the glaring, red imprint of a hand was unmistakable.

Realization slammed into Seraphina. She gritted her teeth, shooting a lethal glare in the direction of the main room, pure fury igniting in her chest.

Mina.

That psycho bitch did this.

Earlier, Mina had stubbornly insisted on taking the food to Lucian instead of Zeke.

And moments later, she had stormed back into the main room, taking her explosive rage out on Seraphina.

Looking back, it was painfully obvious Mina had tried something with Lucian and had been utterly rejected.

Seraphina sucked in a sharp breath, brutally suppressing the blinding anger threatening to consume her.

Now was not the time to be reckless.
